Hello, I started doing tabletop RPGs maybe a half a year ago. I've been in a few games and I've noticed that GMs and players everywhere seem to dislike using maps generally which really makes me question WHY?! When I see people not using maps, or (Such as on streams) using them terribly without even doing anything on them, just having them there for no reason. I for one see a map as a bloody necessity. Whenever I played a game, everyone claims we don't need a map and then it always comes to someone going somewhere or doing something which they can't do but thought they could because the imagination map they had in their heads was different from what the GM had in his head. I did start drawing maps on every session I'm in if it lacks one. And that eliminates what I mentioned earlier with the imaginary map sync because in this case everyone gets the idea on what and who's where. It's a bloody amazing tool without which I can't imagine a good tabletop RPG game of any kind so why are so many people disliking the idea of using maps?
