Reveal Polygon Fog?

Is there any chance that Fog of War could function more like the drawing tools? Irregular shapes would really help with round rooms and hex maps.
I had an idea that i thought might streamline fog of war for everybody if they could implement it. how about sections of fog set up as tokens, when you want to reveal and area you could just disable that token. Alternatively I had another idea using a characters aura to automatically reveal the fog of war, but for the to be effective and not reveal things on the other sides of walls, they would need to create a barrier system that would act as a wall not allowing the aura to pass through
See, I would just have the fog layer work something like the Dynamic Light layer. Any drawing son that layer would be fog. That way we can just ditch the whole hide/reveal tools and have one interface for the lot.
Thats pretty much what I was thinking, but for the aura idea to work they would have to allow you to draw lines for each wall to represent the barrier so the aura doesnt pass through solid objects.
Jeremy -- Have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJe4q_MQU-Y What you're describing is basically the Dynamic Lighting system. Owen -- We're looking at adding the Polygon Tool for FoW. It's not quite the same as the Dynamic Lighting layer because they're always "filled in" or "erased" areas, not just lines...but yeah, basically we're looking to expand the use of the drawing tools there as well.
Sweet! Incidentally, MapTool showed that you can combine the vision blocking layer with FoW as well, it was quite useful. I'm still getting accustomed to the need to manually reveal fog in Roll20, it would be nice if that feature were here as well.
Yes, polygon (and circle/ellipse, and free-form) are essential to make the FoW really usable.
Just wanted to say that that video looked really awesome. Looking forward to it.
The video is awesome. I also use Maptool's VT to build maps for use here. I like the vision blocking that they have and how Roll 20 is trying to implement the same design here. I'm wondering when we should expect it to go active. I like the ease of Roll 20's VT and am looking to run/play more games here.

Blind Justice, presently Mentors are able to play with dynamic lighting, because they have access to the developer's server.
Ok, so mentor's have it. How about the rest of us non-mentor's, any word?
Ok, so mentor's have it. How about the rest of us non-mentor's, any word? Isn't Dynamic Lighting for maps already available in the normal server? I can use it there --not only in the dev server--, and I thought it already was available for other users. Here is a quick sample of it in the normal server:
I still don't have it and I'm a supporter.
Jace B., You are right, I just tested it with a friend and currently dynamic lighting isn't available for those without a Mentor account. What confused me here is that currently Mentors don't actually need to go to the developer's server for the dynamic lighting feature: my screenshot above is from the normal server, where I have it enabled.

There is a thread on the Mentor forum explaining what the current situation is with Dynamic Lighting and how you can make use of it, Axel: http://community.roll20.net/discussion/2863/dynamic-lighting-for-mentors#Item_1 For everyone else in this thread, sorry for the confusion. As with anything related to Roll20, only things you hear officially from a Mod or the Dev Team should be taken as fact, especially regarding new features. Dynamic Lighting is still only available to Mentors. We don't have an exact ETA on when it will be released to anyone else, as we have several other features (mobile support and character sheets among them) that we are currently working on in parallel.

However when I posted here I wasn't remembering the specifics, so it has been an oversight on my part. My apologies, and thank you for kindly correcting me.

That works. I will just keep my eyes and ears open for when it comes out to us regular users. Keep up the good work on these things. So far, I am liking what I am seeing.
That said, better fog tools are different from Dynamic Lighting, and are still much-needed!

That said, better fog tools are different from Dynamic Lighting, and are still much-needed! I can't wait to see the Current Subscriber Count bar going beyond the red status.

[wrong thread]
Dynamic lighting is great, but we still need proper drawing tools for reveal/hide. Option for fuzzy edges on the fog would also be a nice touch.
Right now the current subscriber count bar is yellow. This is the first time I see it! Let's hope it keeps growing from now on. Again yellow. This is the first time I see it! Let's hope it keeps growing from now on.
