Help: Global Illumination & Line of Sight (DL) not working in Daylight??

I followed all instructions and comments that I could find but I must be missing something. To create obstacles that obstruct vision/line of sight in DAYLIGHT you: Check Global Illumination Check Enforce Line of Sight Use Dynamic Lighting layer to outline obstacles (just as you do in darkness, which I do successfully) And that should be it. When I test with a PC token (CTRL-L) I see no obstructions to vision. If I change the map to darkness and test my obstacles, it works fine. It's the making it work in Light/Daylight that I can't get. What am I doing wrong??

Hi Mark, since you have tested it without global illumination on and it works fine I won't suggest ensuring that your tokens have 'has sight' enabled. The only thing that global illumination does is apply a light source to the entire page that all players can see, therefore if they have sight and enforce line of sight is enabled they should be able to see as far as the dynamic lighting lines allow. Remember to have dynamic lighting enabled at all times too (sorry, got to cover all bases!). The one thing to be aware of is that GM's can naturally see everything, but again since you are using CTRL+L that shouldn't be an issue either. I can confirm that it works as expected for me: With global: Without: Could you post some screen shots of the lighting lines, your token/page settings etc. Failing those helping we'll look at moving this to the bugs forum instead.
I've noticed that CTRL-L isn't always 100% accurate when it comes to dynamic lighting. I strongly suggest opening the client in another window/tab as a player and see what you can see in that window. Note:  This can also cause complications if you do it 'in the wrong order'.  What I've had luck with is opening two windows in Player mode, then switch one to GM.  Then everything seems to work fine.
Thanks guys! But, it was as simple as: check "Has Sight" (Ziechael, sorry I do not deserve your trust LOL) I was not used to using that in darkness, so barely paid attention to its mention in roll20 wiki... I checked, I have several darkness maps with tokens seeing DL obstacles just fine and Has Sight is NOT checked, soooo, no idea there. But now I know for sure, much appreciated!

Haha, no problem. The amount of times i've been in your exact predicament only to end up face palming myself for overlooking something minor. The beauty of the Roll20 learning curve is that you rarely make the same mistake twice, and if you do the community will steer you right in no time at all ;) Happy rolling!
