Vrinn x Chuffy (19th of Neth)

After having seen to Grosilge's needs in the Rusty Dragon, Vrinn decides he needs some fresh air, some peace and quiet. Instead, he finds Chuffy. Sighing, the voice of Gildie's echo's in his mind, telling him to be nice. Sure, he could stab the little bugger right here and right now and sure, he'd probably get away with it too. But for whatever reason his conscience wins out and his blades remain where they are. "So..." he begins, sidling up alongside the goblin, looking for whatever shiny bauble has attracted this one "...a Seventooth, huh? Last time I came across yer clan, ye put me in a cage an' were tryin' t' figure out th' best way t' eat me..."
Chuffy looks up at Vrinn with a discerning expression upon his face. "Well, you do look like you'd be pretty tasty. Maybe a bit too lean for my tastes... But I didn't have anything to do with that. I was busy experimenting with things that make fancy colored fires when you were around." He pats the little pack on his back, full of strange alchemical reagents and surprises. He takes it off, setting it on the ground between them before looking up to Vrinn. "That was before Grosilge had her teeth ripped out and was exiled. Which only happened because of you. You caused an unknowable amount of pain to her. How can you claim to love her?"

Taken aback momentarily by the goblin's concisiveness, Vrinn's eyes narrow and his fingers twitch, muscles tensing to attack. However, he instead takes a deep breath, calming himself though still through a sneering face he stares down at Chuffy "Because of me? Maybe, maybe not. I will say that not once have I forced her into doin' somethin' she din't want t' do. It was yer clan that removed her fangs, your clan that exiled her. It was me who freed her from captivity an' gave her a home here. It was me who fought his own brother, not once but twice and risked exile from me own 'clan' as well for just even acceptin' her as my wife. All th' while you were off playin' with  yer trinkets by yerself. Where were you t' protect her when she needed protectin', hmm? I ain't seen anythin' from ye except words an' declaration, and she hardly even knows ye at all... And yet you deign t' question me intentions!?" Vrinn rants, his voice becoming cold as he leans over to come face to face with the short goblinoid, barely inches apart. "You're new around here, so I'll let your mistake slide, but only once, an' only 'cause ye don't know any better. But trust me when I say I've killed more important people for less..." the simmering rage boils behind Vrinn's eyes, kept in check however as he takes another deep breath and stands up straight again to his full height "...But, Grosilge has asked me t' be nice. So, I'm bein' nice. Tell me Chuffy, do ye have faith in Lamashtu?"
Chuffy continues to glare at Vrinn until his words begin to sink in. Then his body relaxes slightly, the tension falling off his shoulders as his scorched off eyebrows furrow in contemplation. "It was the clan who removed her teeth. Hmm. Your coming did change her, but you're also so right that I wasn't there to protect her." Chuffy taps his chin a bit, appearing to thoroughly consider Vrinn's questions. "Who was holding her captive? The Seventooth wouldn't hold her once she wasn't a goblin anymore..." Chuffy looks surprised at the half-elf's question about faith. "Most goblins do the worship dance for Lamashtu, but I was never terribly interested. All those monsters are so much bigger and stronger than me. I don't like them." Chuffy turns an innocent expression up towards Vrinn, at odds with the accusatory glare from moments earlier. "You only fought your brother twice? Was he one of the people you've killed? Do you kill a lot of people?"
With a sigh he pinched the bridge of his nose, thinking for a moment "It was me brother who captured her initially. We fought, I stabbed him, he stabbed me, and one o' his friends sshot and nearly killed her. Luckily I was able t' free her an' save her life though. An' not too long ago he tricked her into following him t' Magnimar where he planned t' exploit her for himself. Again we fought, an' he even tried killin' her then too, an' her pups, but this time he wasn't gettin' away. So we brought him back to face our vengeance..." he explained, another heavy sigh escaping his lips. "But, 'tis good t' know that ye don't follow Lamashtu. Nothin' good ever comes o' it. An' aye, I've killed plenty o' bastards in me time. From hoards o' goblins to a slew o' cultists an' even bestin' a Lamia Matriarch, ghouls an' all other manner o' undead beasties, even bein's of th' infernal realms..." Vrinn lists just a few of his deeds "...so trust me when I say I ain't got any qualms about killin' ye. But, don't get on me bad side an' treat me an' mine right, then we ain't got a problem. Understand?" He asks, looking down at Chuffy with a stony, grim glare.
Chuffy nods his head enthusiastically. "Yea, sure, totally. There's just one thing I don't understand. If you kill 'plenty of bastards' why didn't you kill your brother? He sounds like a twat. What is your vengeance anyway? What's a Lamia Matriarch?" The little goblin takes out a little notepad, ready to start taking notes.
"A Lamia Matriarch..." Vrinn begins, completely ignoring the questions regarding Dizzy "...is a giant snake woman. The top half resembling that of a beautiful woman, but from the waist down, she has the long, slithery form of a great serpent. Able to go invisible, charm people, and cast all manner of nasty spells. That was at least until I stabbed her in the eye...." Vrinn continues to go into detail of the Lamia fight, though naturally he paints a picture where he is the hero. Not quite discounting the others, but embellishing slightly on some aspects
Chuffy furiously takes notes, charcoal dust spreading everywhere around him. "Wow, you're amazing! No wonder Grosilge fell in love with you, you're so strong! How do you find such creatures? Did you keep any of its body for experimentation? Do you meet many creatures like that? Do you always have to save your companions from such a horrible end with such incredible death-defying stunts? I'm extremely impressed that you even decided to give those maneuvers a try let alone thought of them." Chuffy continues to compliment Vrinn on his bravery and skill, while taking more notes on how to be a better adventurer.
Grinning now that he has a rapt audience, he continues with tales of his exploits "Well, it's not so much that we find 'em, more like they are around when we're doin' things. All part o' adventurin', I suppose. But aye, I do have the snake skin from th' snake lady, not for experimentin' though. I'm prolly goin' t' make somethin' out o' it t' give as a gift t' some important people..." he brags. "Ye know, yer not so bad for a goblin. Even one that ain't dead. Maybe next time we go out adventurin', ye might want t' come along, see what it's like..."
Eyes wide, Chuffy stares at Vrinn. ". . . You really mean that? I could go on quests with you and bring back magical treasures for my queen! We could slay dragons and I could make a new coat! Oh but who would protect Grosilge? I'm her knight, I can't just go running off without her say so. I need to go find her immediately, oh wow oh wow, what an opportunity..." Chuffy continues fussing and panicking and muttering as he wanders off to find Grosilge.
