Dungeon Entrance

Back >  The Dungeon A dark brown batholith splits the ground here, several large spiking rocks rise high into the sky.  At first it was hard to see the entrance.  The first couple times investigating this site it remained hidden, but someone finally stumbled into the passage between the rocks to discover a set of stairs leading down into some ancient dungeon lost to time. . The stairs led to a doorway .. that bore no obvious key or entry.  It was simply a black stone set into the browner stone of the batholith itself.  It puzzled many at first .. what was the key to unlocking its secrets.  Was it even a door at all? (Detect Magic) The sound of Destra's boots striking the stone steps echoes off the rocky walls as she approaches the "door" while speaking a simple incantation. She places her hand on the dark slab, concentrating, lost in thought.
A magical aura begins to form .. and strange symbols can be seen on the door.  There are 3 distinct symbols.   Linguistics to identify them

(Linguistics [3]) Curses, I must be getting rusty... Destra taps a finger on her chin, gives the others a pensive look. There are 3 magic symbols here. I can't quite... decipher them. She takes out her scrivener's kit and draws the symbols on a spare piece of parchment for those without magic detection among her.
Zordlon looks at the symbols for a moment. "They seem familiar..." (so i rolled a 23 on linguistics.)
Zordlon identifies them as old world alchemical symbols .. the first meaning .. water or wet .. the second meaning iron ore or iron bars and the third meaning .. patience or time.
(linguistics roll of 10, continuing with the assumption I do not recognize them) "These symbols mean nothing to me." He looks to his new companion, who he has recently come to respect due to a mutual interest in music  "What do you make of them Zordlon?" (Diplomacy check of 24)

"The triangle one means water or wet, the circle with two adding symbols means iron ore or iron bars, and the one that looks like 3 circles linked togeter means patience or time.Yes I know I'm amazing at explaining aren't I?"
Flattus looks confused. "So we're to... throw water on it and wait until it rusts?" He reaches into a pouch on his pack and takes out a waterskin, pours some of it onto his hands, and splashes the door.

Zordlon attempts to look for anything nearby that may contain either water or iron (rolled a 21 on perception. bad roll)
Flattus sighs. "I do have some iron on me, however. I'd like to try to find another source if possible... mine is... unique...." as he is speaking Flattus reaches into his backpack and pulls out a coil of rope.
The door looks on in awe and wonder as the adventurers struggle to find entry
Zordlon decides to try the patience thing and sits down in front of the door to see if waiting does anything.
Fizziwik would like to join the dungeon
Hrmm, so, rust?  Is that it? Fizziwik looks over his heavy steel shield for that spot of rust he had been meaning to buff out and touches it to the door.
The heavy shield shimmers and by some magic melts into the door .. the doorway becomes like a portal; the black entrance within .. 
You can use room navigation to go to "A Lit Room"
"Anyone think this isn't some sort of trap? no? Didn't think so." Zordlon then procedes to step through

    "Dammit the already went in..." Ren had left the group a while back in order to take a look around, now that he had returned it seemed that everyone had entered the dungeon, and there was the sound of fighting coming from inside. Ren ran inside. 
Viggo searches the stairway thoroughly. Then continues down through the door. //Perception 24
Viggo finds himself in a  A Lit Room ..  signs of a recent battle here .. many skeletal bones litter the floor.
