If I change the scale from 1 unit = 5 to 1 unit = 1, it does not paste anything I copy where I click. Instead, it pastes it diagonally down and to the right. My reason for switching to 1 unit = 1 "ft." is to better simulate 4e measuring in squares.
This happens to me, too, and I use the default sizing. I don't know what triggers it, but sometimes when I paste an object it will go down and right, often to the edge of the grid.
Mine is doing the same and is really frustrating. It seems to happen most often when I zoom the interface accidentally by using Ctrl+Mouse Wheel Scroll instead of Alt, but I believe I have noticed it other times too.

Yeah, strange things can happen if your interface is zoomed using the browser's zoom instead of Roll20's zoom. Unfortunately there's no way for us to detect a) if you are zoomed at all or b) disable the zooming. Very annoying.
LM & Jonathan -- can you verify you're zoomed to 100% at the browser level as well? If you are, do you mean it's pasting one "square" off, basically? Can you be more specific about what objects you're seeing this with? (Tokens that are one square? Several squares?)
Also, the measurement scale setting should not be affecting this.
I don't use browser zoom.
It has happened at different levels of app zoom.
It's way more than just one square off.
Measurement and scale are the default values.
It happens with drawings, tokens, and tiles of various sizes... both bigger and smaller than one square.
It also happens when selecting groups of objects with shift + click.
Does it happen both when you copy + paste onto the same page, or only when you copy + paste between different pages? And this is when you click on the map, then paste, correct?
Someone else said they have this problem and once it happens, it will keep happening until they reload. That makes me think there is a Javascript error occurring, so in addition if you see it happen and can get me a console log after it happens, that would be very helpful in aiding me.
Thanks!
Same page. Don't really do much copy/paste between pages except player tokens. I'll mess around with it later this evening if I get a chance. Thanks for looking into it.
