I know next to nothing about coding, and desperately need assistance.

The title says it all, I am setting up a game using D&D 3.5 and am going to be a player in a game using the same system. When I started I didn't realize  the amount of coding I would be required to do. This is not a complaint, I just lack the requisite skill. I have never programed outside of maybe little things in TI 89 Basic, like a random number generator..... All that being said, I would like some help setting up my character (he's a character that I am bringing from a paper and pencil game, and he's gestalt duskblade 20 collegiate wizard 20). The problem I am running into is that I dont know enough about writing Macros to set up his spells, of which there are many, or his attacks which all have variable modifiers. Not to mention, using familiars or even summon monster spells. I realize that this is a huge project, but if someone could point me in the right direction or aid me in some way, I will be eternally grateful. Thank you!

Welcome Josh. &nbsp; You really don't have to be a programmer to make macros. &nbsp;Obviously the more complicated ones will require skills only learned thru trial/error and helpful community members. &nbsp;;-) &nbsp;Make sure you read thru the wiki on&nbsp; macros and&nbsp; dice . &nbsp; The&nbsp; 3.5 section as well. &nbsp;Start by doing some simple things in chat and move up to more complex things like including a sheet's roll template and adding queries to add flexibility and complexity to your macros. &nbsp;Post back with specific questions. Here's an AWESOME google doc I picked up in my travels that are specific D&D3.5 Spell macros:&nbsp; <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1g8fUu5XTvAw8_P" rel="nofollow">https://docs.google.com/document/d/1g8fUu5XTvAw8_P</a>... Cheers.

Seconding everything Vince said.&nbsp; The D&D3.5 Character Sheet also has some sample macros built into it as well; many times you can just add or replace bits of existing macros to get what you want. There are a bunch of us who enjoy helping construct macros, but it's a bit easier if we have specifics to work from. (Glad you like my spell doc, Vince. :)

If your GM is a pro user and is running power cards then i currently have over 300 spells set up (across various classes and only up to about level 6) for 3.5. I'd be happy to help you with the process and could even supply you with a copy of my google sheet based 3.5 spell power card generator (sounds a lot fancier than it is ;) ). If power cards aren't on the table then still continue to use this thread to hit the community up for some help, I aren't that familiar with templates but could certainly assist with the mechanics behind some of the more complex spells. As for the basics of most spells like duration and range, they can be usually be summed up with a handful of pre-sets (bar the occasional spanner in the works). Most importantly play around a bit with basic macros to get the understanding of them, use the links Vince kindly supplied (the 3.5 one was updated by me when i was learning the trade so some of the examples there are good for a starter to understand). Don't forget that you can create a game of your own to mess about in. If you are also going to be DMing then the level of automation from macros/templates/powercards is entirely up to you. Low tech versions using spell cards and simple flavour text are still totally possible :)
