A Place Of Law

Ren agree's as well. Enough for opinions but small enough to get things done.
Kid nods in agreement
Fizziwik again stands up in his chair.   It sounds like we are in agreement then.  5 council members.  One should be Agela, to represent the Benefactor, now what about the other 4?  How might we choose them?  A secret ballot perhaps?  Electing the 4 people with the most votes.  Or do a lottery each month and when your name is pulled then it is your duty to serve on the council for the month.

The 5 that draft the rules can put in when and how a council is assembled. Pending some sort of approval or vote on the rules.

A lottery sounds like a bad idea. When people don't want to do something they tend to just input negatively, and that's not something we want. A secret ballot works, but if we have everyone in town voting for everyone in town it could be a bit of a mess. We might consider nominating a few people first, maybe like 12 to vote on. And yes, once the five are assembled they can choose how to do this in the future.
" Very well, let's get a piece of paper and write down three names, the most voted will get into the council. Is everyone ok with that? "
Sounds like progress. Kellen pulls out several blank sheets of paper, and passes them around. OOC Send Amy a PM with your three votes, and i will reveal the results at the end of the phase
"Only if the accept, right? I hope we aren't just going to demand whomever was voted for has to do it. They may not want the appointment."  Takes a piece of paper and moves off to an empty area of the room to deliberate with herself.
Issachar brings his nominations and drops them on the table.   I'm not sure I like this whole idea.  We've been getting on just fine without nobody telling me what to do.  But I'll be damned if I'm going to let certain parties win because I don't vote. With that, he dons his cloak, straightens his hat, and walks out.
Of course the nominees will be offered. If they choose not to accept, the runner up will be chosen.
Shinon walks up late to the party.   Sorry, we were sent on a mission and we found some of the original settlers that were here first.   She looked around at the people and looked at the blank sheet of paper.   What did I miss?

Ren takes a few moments to ponder before standing up to vote. Quickly he writes down 3 names on a piece of paper and approaching Kellen to hand in his votes. Both Page and Jason stay seated.      "Here are my votes."  ( OOC : I assume each player get's to vote once rather than each entity since that just makes more sense.)
Zordlon quickly scribbles three names on his paper and gives it to Kellen "Here's my votes Kellen. Maybe one of my choices will actually get in."
Kid writes 3 names in his paper and folds it. Here's my vote. I hope I spell the names right.
Kabril, after carefully considering those who would uphold the law, writes down his nominations and hands them to Kellen.   Kabril is satisfied.
OOC Anybody that still plans on voting send it in today, the council will be formed this weekend, during the upkeep phase! The final count will happen at phase 2 tomorrow.
Frerin does not believe in this nonsense of voting for a council, and yet stays to see what is going to happen, and if it does create obstacles to the way he plans to live his life in this new world.
Kellen calls everyone back the next day, having counted and gathered votes from a good number of people. It is time to announce the Outpost's first town council. I will not be announcing exact voting numbers, unless most of the town demands them, but here we go. The fourth slot is awarded to Destra Farlight. The third slot is awarded to Fizziwik Pibbleblot. The second slot is awarded to Prytania. and the final slot is awarded to myself, Kellen Samenth. If each of the awarded Council-people would please step forward and sign the voting document, that will confirm your acceptance of this station, and goodwill for the town. He turns the paper over, and lays it across the table. Across the fifth line at the bottom, Agela has already signed for her position. OOC: Anybody that doesn't want to be a council member can pass the baton to the runner-up. Other than that this AT is effectively complete. A council thread will open soon for people to bring up problems, and for the council to begin discussing decisions. Everyone that voted is awarded 1 KP for participating in part of the island's history. List of runner ups, in order: To Be Filled when i get to my main computer.

Destra's surprise is quickly replaced with composure and gratitude as the her name is read by her fellow council member.  Oh, this development is positively delicious... This is a great honor. It is good to see the industrious people of this young colony choose their leaders wisely.  I promise to uphold the ancient god-given traditions of governance and even-handed leadership! Pulling her custom pen from her robes, Destra signs the document with a flourish.

Fizziwik approaches.   I am...speachless.  I will do my best to serve the town. Picks up the pen and signs. Fizziwik Pibbleblot
Prytania being in the council wasn't a surprise, and still, she wasn't ready to hear it. She stood there a few seconds, trying to accept it - (" Why does everyone see me as a leader? ")- Watching her doubt, Álmos gave her a reasuring smile, and told her to get up (" ... Oh well, I guess it's for the best... at least I'll be able to control things from here... ") - She approached the table, where her council partners were waiting for her. She turned to the crowd: " Thanks for your confidence... I'll try my best, and make sure we all have a pleasant place in this town. Thank you " - Having said that, she turned to the paper and signed. Prytania
