Transforming
characters from D&D and Pathfinder to SSO.
Unless something
changes when I write the Rulebook up characters will look like the
character sheet I have posted.
There are the three
physical attributes, Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, and the three
mental attributes, Intelligence, Willpower, Wisdom. There is Charisma
and the eighth attribute of Life Force. Your primary attributes
convert directly to the same score minus the racial bonus in the
system they we're created in and add the racial bonus for SSO.
Willpower is rolled
up as 4d6 and take the 3 highest dice and add any racial bonus.
Hit points are
doubled.
Characters will have
to have the strength and dexterity to handle weapons and armour.
Clerics the wisdom score for spells. Wizards and Priests must have
the required intelligence and willpower for each spell level. For the
Ki'ar they must have the intelligence, willpower, and wisdom for each
Ki level.
I intend to start a
new campaign in March. I have been seriously looking at creating the
game itself using either the Unreal or Unity game engine. 2D hex map
with tokens, turned based, and the game would have no AI. I may
decide to have no campaign in Roll20 if I decide to create the game.
The
8 th Attribute is
your character's Life Force (LF) and is different from the
other seven attributes. This is a character's spirit and it's
intensity of mystical energy. Each race rolls the indicated number of
D6. For each 6 rolled add 1 to a base LF of one then re-roll all the
dice that came up a 6. For each 6 rolled add another 1 and re-roll
until no more 6s are rolled. It is possible for a character to get a
Life Force of 10 which automatically gives them Ki power, makes them
Quasi-divine, and immortal. The chances for a human (3d6) are 1 in
10,077,696 so don't get your hopes up!
Ki'ar
comes from
the ancient elven for “possessor of power” and the plural is
Ki'ari. These are characters
that posses ki which is equivalent to mana. Ki and mana differ by
their source. Mana is derived from the Mana field which at normal
strength means spells cost the listed amount and magic-users
receive their magic level + LF per turn in mana generated. A stronger
field will increase the mana generated and even lessen the cost of
spells. A weaker field will decrease mana generation and increase
that cost. At zero field strength there
is no mana generated and all spells cost X5.
Ki
comes from a character's Life Force. A character with Ki generates
their LF in ki per turn and the amount of ki they posses is indicated
below. Mana is an external mystical force that
depends on the Mana field
and ki is an internal one powered by the energy of one's Life Force.
Any magic spell can be used
as a Ki power. One
difference is only the material component is needed when a
spell is used as a Ki power.
The other is a magic-user
can cast their magic level halved in spells per turn. Ki'ar can cast
their full Ki level per turn.
Ki'ar
classes are the
Eldritch knight, Magus, and Eldritch master. The Eldritch knight is a
warrior that can use their ki to increase their combat abilities and
cast a limited number of
spells as Ki powers. A Magus is a wizard that uses ki instead of
mana. An Eldritch master combines the features of both the Knight and
Magus but has high requirements.
To posses Ki a
mortal with a Life Force of 1-9 rolls percentile dice equal to or
less then the square of their LF, so a LF of 3 you have a 9% chance
of having Ki. A character's total Ki is their LF times 5d20 of which
they get 20% at each level till level 5 where they have 100%.

status get the cube of their LF, so a LF of 12 = 12X12X12 = 1728 with
their ki being within the range given. Yes, that means a Supreme God
of 1000 LF has a total ki of 1 billion and generates 1000 ki/turn.
The following are
all the level 9-12 magics and are the greatest of the magic spells
and Ki powers. These spells have no verbal, somatic, or material
components. They happen simply because the user wishes it to be.

L 8 Create Reality I : This will establish a temporary
Demi-plane in the ethereal plane of a universe. The creator locks a
set amount of their mana or ki to maintain the demi-plane. Their new
usable mana or ki is their maximum minus this amount. The creator can
release the spell and the demi-plane will start to disintegrate.
Their usable mana or ki goes back to it's maximum value. If the
creator dies the demi-plane winks out of existence. Cost is triple
the number of hexes. The mana or ki locked is double the number of
hexes. A demi-plane with a radius of 5 hexes has 91 hexes so it costs
273 to create and locks 182 mana or ki as unusable for the creator.
All Demi-planes are exact circles of a set radius. A minimum radius
of 3 for at least 37 hexes. A maximum radius of 17 hexes for a total
of 919 hexes.
L9 Alter
Reality : Can duplicate any level 1-8 magic without any
components. Cost of such spells is 75% of the listed mana or ki.
L9 Create
Minion: This
ability allows the user to create immortal minions who have a Life
Force of 1 to 9 (and no bananas!).

Create Reality II : This ability will create a temporary
demi-plane in the astral plane under the same rules as for a
temporary ethereal demi-plane as in Create Reality I . This
spell can also create a permanent demi-plane in the ethereal of a
universe. This plane is permanent and does not lock as unusable any
mana or ki. The Demi-plane continues to exist past the death of their
creator. Cost is 5 times the number of hexes.
L10 Create
Divine: The same as
C reate Minion but
will create a divine entity or raise a creature to a divine rank that
is less then
that
of their
creator.A
Demigod could only create a Quasi-divine being with this ability. A
Major god could create a Minor
god or less. A Supreme god could create a divine
being from the rank of Quasi-divine to that of Greater
god. Requires
the transfer
of Life Force to create.

Create Reality III : Creates a permanent demi-plane in the
astral plane or creates a temporary world-plane in the ethereal plane
of a universe.
L11 Create
Reality IV : Creates a permanent world-plane in the ethereal plane
of a universe or creates a temporary new universe in the astral
