GM Opacity Slider Does Nothing?

I expect that the GM opacity slider would change the opacity of teh GM layer.  After experimenting for a while, I can report that it seems to have no effect on the opacity of the GM layer. Not sure if this is a bug or a misunderstanding of the slider's purpose.

The GM Opacity slider in the Page Settings dialog controls the opacity of Fog of War , as viewed by GMs, as documented in the Roll20 Wiki . As this is not a bug, I'll move this thread to the Specific Use Questions forum.
PS: I am using the latest and greatest version of Chrome on Win 10 PC. I put a map on the map layer and a different copy of that map on the GM layer.  I placed a token on the token layer.  The map on teh GM layer seemed to be 50% opaque judging by how dim the token was.   I changed the GM opacity slider all the way up and all the way down and saw no difference in the opacity.
As the Mod said, above, the slider entitled "GM Opacity" controls only the opacity of the Fog of War.  It does not control teh opacity fo teh GM layer.  I have made a post in the suggestion form.  Thanks.

Graham M: I do something similar to what I think you're trying to achieve here: When making a GM-layer-map, use a program like GIMP or Photoshop to render invisible the playable areas (Anywhere you're expecting action.) Then save (and import it) as a .png, which allows transparency. This leaves the walls and secret doors 50% translucent, and the places you're likely to have tokens 100% transparent. Example: Player View Just blanked out the white of the floors; the numbers and stuff were all left behind. You can see how the dead critters are half-visible, in the walls between the rooms. Red squares indicate secret doors. Just a tip! -Phnord
