Hey guys, I heard of this place in either a Rollplay or Counter Monkey video on the web, forgot which one brought me here. Either way, it's been ages since I got to play some D&D and I'd really like to get back into the game with likeminded people. So, let's get right to it, shall we? A few facts about me first, I suppose, and a couple about what kind of game I'd be interested in and then I'll wrap it up. Me, I'm in my 30ies, been playing RPGs on and off, in recent years mostly cRPGs, sadly. As we get older, there's less and less time for these things, it seems. That said, those things are a poor replacement for the real deal (also, this could potentially help me keep my english from getting too rusty as I get little chance to use it on a daily basis). So, how do I like to play? I guess that matters if I'd potentially join your group, hu? In general, I like to have characters that can get along with the party well enough, I'm not much one for going overboard with intra party quarrels. They seem to bog down the narrative and sometimes they get to a point where there's almost no way relative strangers wouldn't go their separate ways. (Example: My CG Ranger ended up in a group with someone who played his CN Rogue a bit darker than usual. One day we were passing an orphanage and he nudged my ranger and was like "Watch this" and hid in the shadows and backstabbed a little kid. Things deteriorated from there. You know, I've been a Pally and looked the other way when our Rogue did some Robin Hood deeds because my Paladin choses good over lawful, when in doubt, but there's no way a good character would stand idly by while kids get murdered for sport...). So, long story short, I prefer if the party works together to achieve a common goal, rather than try to find a reason to murder each other. Or random NPCs. One thing I like to do, is to give my characters a bit of an excuse to travel. Usually I'd just tell this to the DM unless the party inquires about it and my character feels enough at ease with them to discuss this. Might be he's looking for revenge (if he's nice and generic), maybe he's trying to raise money for a good cause, maybe he's found some sort of artifact and is investigating a lead, etc. Either way, I attempt to make them more than just a bunch of stats to be used in combat. Speaking of combat, I don't mind the occasional scuffle or dungeon crawl, but if I want a combat simulator I guess I could just play an MMO or something. I try to aim for a healthy balance between min-maxing and realism - as in: What would my character actually have learned and why would he have learned that. Some of the "broken" multiclass things I couldn't possibly justify, so I don't use those. On the other hand, if my rogue isn't a thief, but something like a covert operative it makes good sense for him to be chaotic good and have no skills in picking pockets but still be good at breaking and entering and spotting traps. He might even be LG as a government agent. Possibly he picked up a level of fighter too, as part of basic training. This make any sense? Possibly not. So, to wrap this up: As I mentioned,I am a vintage gamer, which sort of limits the time I have available because I gotta put in my time at the office, of course. So, Friday or Saturday evening (GMT+1 or so) works best for me. If you think I might fit into your group and you didn't go tl;dr yet, drop me a line and we'll get in touch. :3
