You used your rings to teleport back to Malchor Harpell's Wizard Tower in Waterdeep. After a few brief seconds of disorientation wears off from the violent departure from Phlegethos (4th layer of Hell) you feel a sudden coldness that surrounds you as the teleportation room comes into focus. Looking around you get a surreal feeling wash over you as you realize there is no ceiling in the room you are standing in and instead you can clearly see the sky above. Looking around you notice that it appears the top three floors of the tower have been torn off. What could possibly have done this kind of damage to a structure this large you wonder. Walking up to the remaining edge of a wall and peering at the City of Splendors you see the aftermath of what must have been a titanic battle. A great swath of destruction starts at the North Trollwall and continues inward all the way to Piergeiron’s Palace and on to Castle Waterdeep. You can see several areas where the city walls are no more. Some areas appear to be burned by fire or worse melted to slag by acid. After several minutes staring at the devastation of the once beautiful city, you know the the coldness you felt wasn't because the air is cold but due to the extreme difference between the temperature here and Phlegethos. For such a pretty day it is hard to believe what your eyes are seeing. You don't see or hear anyone at the tower but given the damage to the building you're not surprised. Searching inside yourself you know of one such power who could have wrought such devastation. Tiamat. Before your journey you were tasked with stopping the Cult of the Dragon from bringing Tiamat to this world. Is it possible the Dragon Queen was summoned while you were gone? You need answers to the million questions swimming in your head, very uncertain of what awaits you in this new world.
