Current group:
Current group consists of me and two other British males,
average age of 23; I, the DM, prefer to play games in a loose fashion, I never
create complex worlds from the outset, I just imagine what characters would
inhabit the setting and how they would act, primarily using the “Front” system
from Dungeon World. I have mostly DMed D&D in varying flavours
and Dungeon World, I’m very much in favour of PCs being as sneaky as possible
and encourage the use of the “What is your intent” system, i.e generally I will
ask you what your intent for a given action/conversation/roll is.
I also will definitely be doing accents, which will almost certainly be
terrible, I will also make as many references to obscure science fiction as
possible.
The Game:
Technoir, a hardboiled cyberpunk world, uses a novel system
of dice economics to encourage player participation in accordance with the
setting. None of us have played it before, we’re looking to play it for a few
sessions and then probably move on to a new system. The tone will be highly stylized
in the Gibson idiom, but I’ll be throwing in themes from other sources as well,
expect a mostly serious world in a campy style.
When to play:
Will generally only be able to play on Thursdays between
11am and 10pm GMT, as this is when we all happen to have days off etc sessions
will usually be 4 hours long
What I’d want from
you:
I’m looking for people who are willing to engage, I don’t need
necessarily old hands so long as you’re willing to engage, this definitely won’t
be a game where you can expect to spend 3 hours rolling dice and saying the
names of spells (D&D 4 th , how I hate you), any combat I will endeavour
to make fast and brutal as I find this the most fun to play. I don’t really
care much for backstories as I like to see how characters develop in play, but
that’s entirely up to you and if you want to do that, feel free.
Requirements:
We will play on roll20 (Obviously) and use skype to
communicate, any nationality is welcome as long as you speak decent English and
have a mic of decent enough quality (No silly amounts of static), I don’t expect
100% attendance as I know stuff happens but I consider communication to be a common
courtesy.
Topics likely to be
covered:
Most likely gore, but not to an excessive level, likely to
be some racism but only as the setting demands, probably closer to classism,
sex could be a topic covered but my faint English sensibilities won’t allow me
to go into too much detail without fainting.
