I was wondering if there's currently a work around for this? I was wondering if there's a way to change the opacity of dynamic lighting so that the players could barely see the map itself instead of everything just being pitch black?
No there is not but there are a number of suggestions in the Suggestion forum you can vote on for this type of thing. This one for adjustable global illumination , and this one for Special dynamic lighting objects . Give a vote on one for starters.
You can use dim lights and carefully placed shadows to hide things from view without completely obscuring the map. use multiple light sources and set them to dim at 0 and use small lines on D.L. layer to break the light up.
Hmmm I could. Well that's a whole lot of work for one map but if that's the only way around it I can for the moment. Thanks for the suggestions Al :) I'll go ahead and toss a vote though.
