My night with Roll20 - Crashes, crashes, crashes

Tried to play a game tonight, the first hour was dedicated to trying to fix issues. One of our players was completely unable to connect at all, even though he has in the past. He never made it back to the game, so we continued without him. The rest of us would get randomly dropped, either from TokBox or from the game entirely. These issues have been persistent since we started playing in beta, and we just chalked it up to being beta, but it hasn't gotten any better. 3D Dice also would crash my Chrome tabs, but not always, just twice. I rolled a 1d20+5 the first time and 1d6 the second time, and Chrome gave me the generic "Oh no the tab died!" page with the choking puzzle piece. My specs are here Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Web Browser Chrome 22.0.1229.94 Browser Size 1920 x 965 IP Address 64.85.131.210 Color Depth 32 bit Javascript Enabled Flash Version 11.4.31 Cookies Enabled I'll try to get my players in here to post theirs, but no promises.
When you say you got randomly dropped from the game, can you be more specific? Did it just stop relaying things between players (e.g. you would type a chat message and it never showed up for anyone else?) Also of course more info on the "not being able to connect at all" would be helpful. Does that mean he couldn't log into the website? Got to the loading screen but never actually joined the game...? The more detail you can give us to help us reproduce, the better.
Like we'll just get soft-kicked from the game. We will lose the ability to hear someone, their TokBox image gets replaced with their Gravatar, and they eventually disappear. But to them, they're still in. Sometimes we'll just lose the TokBox connection and we can only text chat, sometimes it's the whole game. The guy who couldn't join at all was able to connect for a few minutes. He could only talk in text chat, couldn't hear anyone on TokBox, then he just lost connection. I'm trying to get him to come to this thread and give you more specifics as I was dealing with the other stuff and left him to figure it out. Edit: It's not entirely related to our connection stability either, cause I've been kicked both when I had a flawless 3Mb/s connection and whatever awful DSL speed I have at my new place, and I've been able to hold onto a game at both.
I was one of the other players. I didn't lose connection quite as often, maybe once or twice. The player that could never connect had a connection at first, but then after a while (I'm not sure how long) all I could see was his little picture thing in the lower left. After a bit when I refreshed the page, his icon was gone. When Colton got dropped and he logged back in, his picture thing on the lower left somehow duplicated the player loading screen along with his picture, so each time Colton reconnected, I saw a tab that said "loading" with the little blue bars next to his actual icon. We could tell when Colton DC'd because we'd stop getting audio and text from him. I'm not sure if he could still get audio and text from us, but I think he could... Here are my specs: OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Browser: Firefox 16.0 IP address: 35.40.103.237 Javascript: Enabled Cookies: Enabled Screen Resolution: 1280x800 Browser Size: 1280x661 Color Depth: 24 bit Flash Version: 11.4.402
I could get audio and text from you guys.

Hi there sorry you had problems. Roll20 is well worth the effort I use Roll20 in Google+ hangouts We hardly ever have any video problems and i have players from all over Europe. A little more effort getting everyone setup with Google+ account ( all FREE and very useful), but very easy after you gone through that process and creating a circle of your Roll20 friends to invite them all with one click - Try it with one friend How to start Roll20 in Google Hangouts.. * one thing you need to do is to remember is to click on virtual Tabletop. then find your campaign then click on view details of that campaign - then click on Launch in Google+ hangout link. To setup you camera and microphone if any problems (someone always does) top right of screen is the setting link in Google+ hangouts. USE the tabs at the bottom of Google+ hangout let you see huge closeup of your friends faces or view the APP your using hopefully ROLL20. Good luck if you try this, hope it works out for you, I have had loads of fun playing on ROll20 for 3 months now and have got my group of friends all back together again, with more waiting to join in the next campaign, its was well worth the time it took setting it up.
I've had much better success using Roll20 via Google+ hangouts as well.
@Sandman I definitely will consider G+. I love Roll20, as it's the only way this game would exist in the first place. It's the only really simple and intuitive VTT out there. I just wish we could stay in a damned game for the whole time.
Okay, based on what I'm hearing from you guys, it sounds like these are all Tokbox-related issues. Anything dealing with the video/voice chat (can't connect, disconnects, etc.) are all Tokbox. As some others have suggested, you might have better luck using Google+ Hangouts (<a href="http://help.roll20.net/misc-playing-in-google-plus/" rel="nofollow">http://help.roll20.net/misc-playing-in-google-plus/</a>). We're also working on a new system that takes advantage of a brand-new technology called WebRTC that would solve all of these issues as well. So, long story short, really sorry that you were having issues, try Google+ and see if it's any better, and we're working as quickly as we can to get rid of that current solution and put something better in place, but right now it's a bit out of our hands as that's a 3rd-party widget that we use.
problem I have is that images DO NOT work I try to pick an image it shows a circle with a line through it. After 1-5 min it is available to use and slows down game ALOT not sure if this is still related to the east coast hurricane or what but it gets annoying that it does this with most if not all images.
I'm looking forward to the WebRTC shift but keep in mind everyone will need to use some brand spanking new browsers to deal with it. To reiterate what everyone else said, use google hangouts, it's very stable and I haven't had to struggle with lag or disconnects and I've got players in South Africa, UK and Taiwan!
