RP For the fans

One evening, after things have calmed down a bit and he has returned from the upper city, Marokin can be seen leaving notes to some of the people he got to know. He leaves one to Beldak, Erolith, Syvil, Reskin, Meren, Adolfo, Lydika, Cain, Kaar... The note reads: "Dear Name of the recepient , Let's meet in the Tipsy Mermaid in the evening of the last working day of this week. I have something to share with you that might spark your interest. The first round of drinks is on me. Looking forward to see you. Marokin" After letting the days go past and the set date arrive the time has come. Marokin looks through the audience into the familiar faces. Walks up on a table and starts: "Dear friends and companions, while I was in the upper city I got introduced to a little tune of most peculiar taste. It is not even a bad one but it is the words of this song that I want you to pay attention to. Some of you apparently have made the start onto the way of legends. Some patron had even paid a bard to spread this tune in the upper city." He smiles and starts plucking a few strings. Then he starts to sing the song of  " Reskin the Evil and Meren the Corrupt"  The song contains some details of recent adventures that you would not expect to be public. It parodies and makes them out to be stupid, and evil. The intent appears to be to discredit them and to possibly incite violence against them. When the song is done, Marokin pulls out a copy of the song and puts it on the table that he was sitting on and leaves to the bar. "One round for my friends." he says. He looks around: "So, what do you make of it?"
do you no they are evil?

He has not composed the song; rather it has been sung to him. Whether Marokin knows anything is not the issue.
Reskin is walking down a street, and spots a note with his name on it. After reading it, he heads to the tipsy mermaid, as instructed by this 'Marokin'. As he approaches the tavern, he hears a familiar song, one which he heard out in the street not hours ago. Furious, he slams the door open, and glares at the people in the room. "Who is Marokin, and who was singing that song?" He shouts these words, and waits for an answer, whilst meanwhile drawing and loading his crossbow.
Syvil stands up, seemingly calm and walks over towards Reskin. Now now, no need to bear arms against folk in a tavern. Come on over here and have a talk with us.
Reskin, still angry at hearing that song again, backs up, and levels the crossbow with Syvil's chest. "I don't want to have to do this Syvil, but I need answers, and I need them now. This song has been sung in taverns across all of haven, and I need to find out who was the first. So move Syvil, and tell me who Marokin is." He shouts the last part, and you notice that in his left eye, there seems to be lines of purple and green pulsing under the normal grey.
Actually I think I am rather fine standing right here... But by all means; do talk to Marokin. Syvil takes a slightly more relaxed pose but keeps himself firmly between his drinking companions and the bolt. In your left eye you can just perceive a slight aura around him and now when you think about it he did perhaps cast some minor spell as he stood. You can also see his right hand ready to reach for the shield on his back; yet the left has made no move to find any weapon and he still looks quite calm.
Reskin sneers, but sheaths his crossbow, and you see the pulsing in his eye dim.  "Fine, but so help me Syvil, I need answers, if not for my sake, then simply for Meren. Now, which one is Marokin." He stands there, examining the room, and you see in his left hand, dark purple seems to occasionally spark. As he awaits your response, you also hear him whisper, "Power in order, Power in chaos. Power brings creation, and Power brings ruin." He repeats these words over and over, seemingly like a mad-man.
Syvil stands aside enough for you to see the group behind him and then simply waits.

Marokin calls from the bar: "So you are the Reskin they are talking about? I do not know who was singing it first, but I know that a bard was singing it in the upper city and he told me he was instructed to do so by a lady in fine clothes. What is to the song Reskin? Maybe you can quiet the accusations in another way than with a crossbow?" The Tiefling winks to Reskin. "Have drink and let's talk about it. Shall we? As you can figure from this, the fault lies not with the bard but with someone else that wants to denounce you and Meren, and whoever it is has either the same name as someone too familiar to us or he is trying to kill two birds with one stone..."
Syvil relaxes somewhat but the aura around him does not fade. He pulls out a chair for Reskin.

Reskin does not move, and at first you think him to maybe to not have heard you. Then Marokin, you here a voice in your head, and the words echo slightly. "You may say it not the bard's fault, yet not a few hours ago, I was in the street being attacked, both verbally and with rotten fruit, by a crowd of fifty or so people, chanting this very song. Bards have influence, perhaps more so than a king, so I shall blame the bard." With this he sighs, and all of the tension and stress seems to leave his body. He looks up at you, and says out loud this time, "I apologise for the commotion, it's just that today has not been an easy day for me. I would appreciate it if you did not sing this song any more." As he says this, you see his left eye glow a dark purple, and then it fades.

But is it true? I'm not talking about the specifics; it does get quite silly at parts, but why would someone write such a song about your evil deeds to defame you? Seems to me like the most effective method of attack would be to base ones lyric in truth, the corpulent are called fat, the rich greedy and those who abuse power; evil. So the question to me, once you get past how ridiculous this all is, becomes "do you abuse your powers?".

Reskin glares at Syvil. "When I was back in Netherfell, my father always had a saying, ' Power in order, Power in chaos. Power brings creation, and Power brings ruin'. What it means is that anyone can wield power, and power can be used for anything. I have always lived by these words, and I always shall. So no, I do not abuse my powers, I use my powers when necessary." After saying this, he takes a book which is fastened to his belt, flips to the back, and smiles slightly.

Marokin looks at Reskin, whistles, and points his finger at him. A voice pops up in Reskin's head: "Oh we do have our influence, and we do have our needs. Most of us are barely earning enough to survive. An offer paid upfront to sing a song about people one does not know seems very tempting in that situation... the more so when delivered by a good looking woman" He speaks: "Apology accepted, however this is the one question, the other question is: where did the person issuing the song get their information from? How does that person seem to know so much about our activities and what interest does it have into defacing you and Meren? And into defacing ... well ... Tallia? Towards your statement, it has a nice ring, but what does it mean you use them when necessary? This can be very broadly applied... Anyway, I agree to not sing it anymore, but you might want to tell that to the guild of the bards and not only to me and best show with deeds that these accusations are wrong..."
"Also Dear Reskin there is a stanza missing from that verse you were presenting: Power mends, power restores Power consumes, power corrupts. "What would you do, if you find the person who first sung this song? What will you do when you find the one who asked for its creation and spreading? Will you go and put that bolt into that person? Confirming in part what the song is saying? And what will you do to make sure Meren's safety? I haven't seen him ever since we left that creepy tomb. What has become of him and what tells us that whatever the song hints at, is not true?"
Reskin stands, and says, "You ask me what will I do? I shall do whatever I deem necessary. And about Meren, if you want to find out where he is, I have a suspicion he is in the cave in the Forest of Shadows. After all, that is technically his new home. I swear this on pain of soul." And with that, Reskin leaves, but not before dropping a note on the table; One man walks the path of light, and One the path of shadows. A man who walks neither though, is a man with the most choice.
Marokin reads the note, bringing back memories of an old song he heard before... "There are some who are in darkness and the others are in light and you see the ones in brightness those in darkness drop from sight." "I hope his necessities don't cause damage to some Bards or their minds.", he mutters.. "at least he seems to still have some regards for other people... " "Another drink please! I have some thinking to do!"

As Reskin is heading away from the Mermaid, he hears Meren's voice in is mind: "What was that all about? You barged in looking very agitated. I unfortunately couldn't hear what was going on inside. Was it perhaps related to the song going around town?"

Just as Meren is done speaking. Reskin's presence fades away from him. Meren thinks to himself: "If he so chooses, I won't be able to locate him. I wonder for what reason he'd do so." An avarage built man with short black hair rises from the water near the docks just east of the Tipsy Mermaid. He appears to be sporting something resembling gills on him and has a see-through chain around his lower torso. This is quite the sight this time of the year when the water is freezing cold, yet he appears to be unfazed by it. He quickly grabs a bundle of clothes hidden on the underside of a dock. The chain on him falls to the ground and flashes. In a glimpse of an eye the chain has turned into a glaive. The man combs his hair back, puts on his clothes, leather armor and a light gray robe. On the robe are blue markings, symbols of unknown origin. The gills disappear and he picks up the glaive. The streets a couple hundred feet around him are barren of anyone but the ones with mental fortitude (there will surely be talk of strange noises in the harbor today). Meren starts to make his way towards the Tipsy Mermaid, uneasy and curious of what had occured.

The door of the Mermaid creeks open. A man you necessarily wouldn't recognize as Meren Denn walks in, wielding the glaive like one would a walking staff. His posture is much more confident than before, maybe arrogant even. At a steady pace he makes his way around the place, seeking for Marokin. When he spots Marokin Meren speaks to his mind: "Stay put and don't make a sound." The chances of this happening are slim, that much Meren understands. He makes his way to Marokin's table while keeping an eye out for any spying eyes around him. Telling them:  "Stay out of this!"    as he goes.
As his voice carries into the minds of those around him Meren would sense that he has not reached Syvil; in whom a silver wall of flame burns strangely cold and silent.
Marokin whistles and then a voice pops up in Meren's head. "What is it with you people and the speaking into my head... the sound of a voice is a fabulous thing. You might want to try it at some time. Not making a sound is a very tough question to ask of a Bard, you know? "So, what is it you want my dear friend?"

Meren sits, crosses his arms and speaks, this time out loud. "To you Marokin I have two questions. First, were you the one who made "that" song? And second, what happened just a few moments ago when Reskin was here? I noticed him arriving and leaving under much distress. Answer these questions for me, then I'll leave and buy you a day's worth of drinks."
"Ah you do not know my songs well enough. It would be more sophisticated and more direct.  What happened with Reskin? Well he marched in, was threatening to kill people and then left.... He seems not to be a great fan of that song, neither seem you. But perhaps it is better that you ask him? People are getting agitated by the song and he seems to be the target of some of their agitations. In that regards I have to say, whoever wrote the song has apparently achieved what they were going for. 'A day's worth of drinks it is then?" When Meren starts to leave Marokin speaks loudly: "Oh there is one hint I can give you. It was ordered by someone that either has the same name as the dear Lady Tallia, the one that used to be with the Cyder boys, or was trying to discredit her. For his description matches neither her looks nor her voice. Tell this to Reskin as well, if you may, I don't want her to get hurt because of a misunderstanding."
Syvil gives Marokin a strange look. It is hard to place what he is feeling, let alone thinking but it lingers for some seconds and he is not trying to hide it. He then gets up swirls his drink around and finishes it. With that he walks over to the bar.
Marokin gets up and walks to the Bar: "What is going on in that wooden head of yours?"

Meren leaves some gold on the bar table next to Marokin and begins to leave. Just before he exits he says frustratedly: "Where Reskin is right now I do not know. He blocked my messages in a similar fashion you did earlier Syvil. I fear he may be about causing trouble. Trouble we can't afford to have." A blue glare lights the doorway as Meren is seen leaving, no longer holding his glaive.

He turns to face Marokin and it is obvious that he has been agitated by something. You are not sure why but his tone is not happy, or angry but rather melancholy; edged with some regret. Oh? Me? Nothing. Nothing but worries you would not care for. Leave me be Marokin; I'm sure the others have some story or other to fill your curiosity. My problems are not something you poke you nose in only to withdraw once the smell seems off, and certainly not something you gossip about in public. Syvil shakes his head at Adolfo; stopping the order he had just made and leaves the inn.

As Meren walks outside, you spot Reskin across the street, standing there, leaning against an abandoned house, nursing a crystal ball in his hand. It occasionally glows a dark purple, with flecks of green. As he spots you, he grins. "Meren my friend, nice to meet you again. How have you been, how are your powers doing?" He gestures for you to walk over, and puts away the orb he's holding in his hand.

Meren comes closer but remains on the other side of the street. "Hello again, Reskin. I hear they sing a song about us. The words sting, I approve of the tune however. As for my powers, I think I have gotten a firm grasp of them. One in particular has been of great use. That is the ability to breath underwater. Exiting Haven has been much easier since I learned it. But enough about me. You went to the Mermaid and met with the bard, Marokin. What do you intend to do with the knowledge you got there? You see, I might be interested to join in. But know that I'd like to take care of the matter in silence. For now, Haven is our home and I wish not to be seen as a villain in my home." Meren appears troubled but remains still and silent.
At the mention of Marokin, Reskin scowls deeply, and you see from across the street his left eye flash a purple so dark, it is almost black. "What do I intent to do with this knowledge? I intend to do many things, but the main one is to track down the ones who dare to deface us. But you see, I have asked my patron for a gift, and a gift I shall soon have, I just need to get a bit stronger. But indeed, breathing underwater. I dare say that is an useful ability. However back on track, yes, I see it fair that you join me, as the song is also about you." As he says this, he also takes out a book, and shouts out a word loudly. "Geb'or!" Suddenly, you see a bolt of dark energy slam into one of the nearby houses, and crashes through one of the boards holding the house up, and rubble crashes to the ground.
It is at that point that Syvil leaves the Tipsy Mermaid; he stands in the silence after the bolt strikes and simply stares at the pair.

Meren, not yet noticing Syvil speaks: "Oh my. Great gift indeed." He then turns to see Syvil staring at them and is unable to say a word, such is his surprise. All he can do is beckon Reskin to leave and follow him into an alleyway.
Syvil glares after them as they leave, sticks his head back inside the Tipsy Mermaid and calls for Cain to follow. Whether Cain comes or not, Syvil will attempt to sneak after the two. (Stealth 10, Perception 27)
Meren tries to dodge Syvil's vision by going from shadow to shadow, Reskin right behind him. (Stealth 20)

Me and Meren would like to invite Reskin and Cain to join us for voice RP on Discord. The meeting could be tonight or tomorrow; whichever works for everyone. Should anyone who is currently in the inn feel like joining (they need an RP reason for following Cain out the inn) they are welcome to join once we set a time; but we will not select a time based on them.
I'm good tonight until 22:00
We have received sanction but we may not engage in PvP.
Back at the inn Marokin shakes his head. "This Syvil... it is hard to get a hold of him and to make anything out of what he is saying. A good person to give a secret but a bad person to receive one from... What is use of secrets if they are not shared?" As Adolfo is about to take away the drink Syvil orders Marokin gestures him to give it to him instead... "Well that turned out to be interesting, or at least entertaining tonight... but not very substantial..." he thinks to himself. "I really have to 'et a hold ow sis guy at some point, but not 'onight." He looks at the gold Meren left and looks at Adolfo... "Ah let's use that 'or another round, shall 'e?" After two more rounds he stumbles to sleep.
Three shadows can be seen rushing from the Tipsy Mermaid inn in the dusk. One of them knocks over a water barrel and that gets the other two running of. They chase each other for a while and finally end up on a dock; with no boats. Those with sharp ears might hear an argument going on out there but the noise of water and wind drown out the words. Shortly there after the two figures at the end of the dock blast a hole in the ice and jump in; leaving the third standing alone as the night falls ever darker.
