Setting will be standard D&D 4e. Which is a few hundred years ago the empires of man collapsed for unexplained reasons leaving just a scattering of city states and some small kingdoms.
The plot will be heavily character driven, so it is important that you create good strong backgrounds. I actually recommend starting with the background then building the rest of the character. I do allow significant reflavoring but only if it is actually beneficial to your roleplay.
Themes are usable but not backgrounds. The game will be heavy with skill challenges and due to my extreme tactical ability, heavy with difficult encounters. However I usually do not maintain permanent TPK. However because of this I recommend you work together with your fellow party members to construct a strong party that maintains strong synergies. Tips to keep in mind when building strong characters and parties is that non-synergizing feats (Like anything that just gives a plain +1 to attack/damage) should generally be avoided. I am willing to help new players directly build strong characters.

I will also warn you I am extremely argumentative, I enjoy arguing and will argue constantly. However I do not carry the arguments into the game itself and am not vindictive.
I do not stop a game due to absent players, however if you are absent without warning, you will suffer a death penalty until two milestones are reached.
