LFG Curse of Strahd

About me: I am 20 years old and very interested in joining a Curse of Strahd 5e game that is heavily roleplay based. I personally don't care too much for dungeon crawling. I like combat but dungeons can get really tedious. It is the acting mechanic that I enjoy mostly of RPGs. I would like to play a character from a book series that I wish to publish. Comment of PM me. If you are looking to play as a player then sure go for it but know that I am searching for a more roleplay based group. This post is to look for a GM or a pre-existing group. Curse of Strahd is officially released tomorrow. experience: I am an actor and a writer and have been playing for about 1.5 years. I have been looking forward to the new Ravenloft setting. I have never played it but I have heard many things about Ravenloft. I like DnD because to me its a form of expression. I can express characters in an artistic fashion to generally, the entire party enjoys, unless you are a pure powergamer then you will not enjoy me. I care not for powergaming but the artistic expression. Did I make the wrong choice, maybe to a powergamer but its what my character would do. I get along well with players and I am someone that GMs enjoy having because I am flexible with the story and know how to bring those interesting twists. Character: Paladin Xavier Lionheart (however does not know his last name) Race: Human Class: Druid................ no just kidding, he's a paladin Alignment: Lawful Good Background: Far Traveler with the Retainers background Bio. I have pages and pages of the backstory of Xavier as he is the main character in a book that I wish to publish. The best way to get to know your character is to put that character in another setting where I have little to no control Actual Bio: Born in Kara-tru, Xavier is a human with demonic heritage (not a tiefling). Aside from being a "white" human, Xavier has demonic traits like horns and fangs that he hides. He grew up in an orphanage where was hated for being different, how the emperor took interest in the young boy's unnatural strength. There he met the bastard daughter of the emperor who was half kitsune. The girl was drawn to Xavier who was different like she was however Xavier took offense initially. The emperor found no way to harvest the demonic child so he sent it back to the orphanage, disappointed. Then when Xavier was entering his teenage years, the nurse Iseri (Xavier's only motherly figure at the orphanage) along with other orphans were taken captive by bandits for ransom. He went, only armed with a branch and fought off the bandits. The emperor was impressed and honored Xavier with the title of "samurai." Xavier began training as a samurai and saw the fox girl Kiyomi more often, around this time, Xavier started to have feelings for her as she did for him. He grew up never knowing that and by the time he became a young adult, the vampire lord Strahd opened a portal and rained his monsters onto Xavier's home. Xavier was returning from an escort and saw the abominations raining from the sky. Xavier charged into the city and found Iseri fighting off the creatures to protect the other orphans. However she was easily overpowered. She died in Xavier's arms, the woman he called a mother. Afterwards he stormed the palace and saw a shadowy figure with the face Strahd (but not strahd, a servant of Strahd). The servant stole Kiyomi's soul and Xavier went into a blind rage where he was blessed by a god of justice. The shadow panicked and by accident, banished Xavier out of Kara-tur near the city of Bleakmur. There he met another human, a large circus man, and a rock gnome. Xavier eventually befriended them. Xavier explained what happened and the gnome told Xavier about the myths of Castle Ravenloft. After a while, the gnome and strongman agreed to help Xavier in his search for Strahd. He carries to comatose body of Kiyomi, and travels with the strongman and the gnome. Retainers: Princess Kawasaki Kiyomi Borris Igrovich the human strongman Neutral Good Dezmit Riess the rock gnome Chaotic Neutral
I haven't read through it yet, but it is hard to say you want to play Curse of Strahd that is roleplay heavy. It is a module. It will most likely be played as it is written. Again, I haven't read it, but I can tell you that the 1e and 3.5e versions of the module are very dungeon-crawly. The latter parts of the game are spent almost entirely in Castle Ravenloft . There aren't a ton of friendly NPCs in there to roleplay with. Just FYI.
That's where creativity comes in. You don't have to follow the adventure path exactly by the book.
I am going to run this eventually. I just got done with my initial read through and it will be a few months before I am ready to run it.  I will say however that depending on party choices you could experience this entire campaign with little combat. Of course there is lots of opportunity for it but I am amazed at how little is actually nessessary. One word of advice would be to be loose on your background and intro. What you have written wouldnt fit from my perspective. Anywsy good luck.
