Update - we now have 3 players and a potential DM and fourth player. Looking to fill a total of 6 player spots more than likely. The basics. A friend and I are looking to get a campaign going for Tuesday night starting at 7:00 PM Central. We are looking for 3-4 players and a DM. We will be using Roll20 to the best of its ability as well as Discord for voice and communication between sessions. Each session will have a sign-up page and everyone will be required to post at least 1 hour ahead of playtime if they will or won't be making it. Of course things come up and that is understandable but if you fall 3 levels behind the next lowest character that probably means you don't have the required time and will be asked to leave. You must have a good microphone and either have the sensitivity set correctly or use Push To Talk. We are looking for about 60-70% RPing and 40-30% Combat. We will have a session 0 where we get together and make sure everyone has their character created. This is the time also when people can get together and weave some history together if they so wish between characters. We will also talk about what everyone expects both the players and the DM. Evil characters won't be allowed unless our entire group is Evil. Our group dynamic is Lawful Good however, what this means is that inside our group we genuinely care about each other. Players who like RPing characters who steal from the group, cause strife among the group, or generally are against the group dynamic aren't allowed. For example you could have a Lawful Good Cleric and a Chaotic Neutral Rogue who disagree on certain things but both would lay their lives on the line for each other and their players genuinely care that the other survives. We are forming a brother/sisterhood and RP should reflect that. (These things are subject to change based on DM) Anything 5e put out is considered fair game. We will be doing the standard array of 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8. The setting will be discussed between the party but expect all classes to be viable. We are looking for a DM who knows how Roll20 works. We are looking for a DM who knows how to roll with the punches. If you have something planned and a player wants to try something that would derail it then you should let the player attempt it. A good DM can on the fly figure out how to at some point get the group where it needs to be going. As an example, if a passing minstrel group passes you on the road and the parties Bard wants to try and talk the group into staying to sing the night away and well he has his eye on the groups leaders daughter let him try. If succeeding screws up your plans for the next morning where the party was supposed to come across the minstrel group slaughtered by bandits adapt. Make up a story about a caravan that was at the same city the minstrel party left from. The Caravan left a day early and thats why the party didn't run into them but the Minstrel group will recognize them and tell you. It keeps your story on track while allowing the players to feel like they can affect the world. If not outlandish no shouldn't be in the DMs vocabulary. If you need a natural 20 to succeed so be it, but if a player wants to attempt something that isn't outlandish then based on the roll and their RP let them attempt it and when either the roll or RP is good reward them with a awesome outcome of whatever their attempting. If you want to join us apply in this thread with your name, what kind of classes/races you like playing, and your Skype name.
