I am looking to run a Vampire the Masquerade online game
called “Twin Cities by Night”. I ran this game 15 years ago and it went for
about 2 years. Recently I’ve started purchasing VtM sourcebooks again, and am
in the process of reading the core book over.
What type of game will this be? Well it will be a darker
type of game that is very story driven so I would ask that anyone who is
interested in playing be at least 18 years of age. It won’t be so much a hack n
slash type of game, but it also will not be a play cast type either. I like to
keep to what I feel used to be features of the game that were ignored by some
of the story tellers I played under back then.
One thing I want to stress is that players are going to be
newly created and set loose Neonates who were created within the last 20 years.
They will be trying to not only survive in a fully functioning Kindred society,
but they will be dealing with making their own footprint from the ground up .
The Twin Cities are almost a progressive type Kindred
society where somewhat younger elders have key roles in the city. There are no
Anarch problems, no Sabbat problems, and honestly the only type drama is the
normal Kindred bickering in the city. When I say younger I mean more 100 – 300 year
age span, with the Prince being only embraced 100 years ago. He is a Venture
who is credited with saving the twin cities from a failed Sabbat take over
during the WW2 years. I’ll answer more back story type question when asked in
the thread.
The new players are on the very low end of the power
structure in the Kindred society of the city. I love progressing character goals
and story, along with group goals. I believe for a player to do well with a character,
and really play as their character should, they have to feel emotionally
invested. To be emotionally invested they will need to see the risk, and
rewards that their character receives, along with seeing that for me as a ST I
should be helping that character grow too.
Again, the story will be somewhat mature, and I would say
some inspiration for “feel” would be more movies like Eyes Wide Shut, Payback,
The Ninth Gate, and books such as Stephen Kings IT, and Clive Barker’s Books of
Blood.
So if you’re interested let’s start talking, if any of you
have question about the scene or city ask away and I’ll answer as much as I can
without spoiling!
