Max damage on critical for 5th edition DnD

I would like to use a variant rule where the base damage on a critical hit is maximized then you roll the additional damage. For example, if you are a rogue with a 16 dex, a rapier and 1d6 sneak attack and you get a critical you would deal 8(Weapon) + 6(SA) + 3(Dex) +1d8(Weapon Critical) + 1d6 (SA Critical) for a total of 17 + 1d8 + 1d6 damage. Does anyone know if this is possible using any of the 5th edition character sheets.
Yeah, but the way that rule works... all you're basically doing is adding the max damage to the existing roll and not re-rolling damage. So instead of putting a die in the crit field on the character sheet... you would put the max value possible. So 6 for no sneak or 12 with sneak.

Yeah that is how I wanted to do it, I am using the Shaped character sheet, and by default it rolls the weapon damage again on a crit, and anything you put in the crit field seems to be in addition to the normal crit damage. Do you know what character sheet makes it so you enter the crit damage seperately?

Here's a "hack" that might let you accomplish this with the Shaped sheet. Paste the following into the "Crit" field (of a repeating entry in the Attacks section): }} {{crit_damage=[[8 + etc.]]}}

For the shaped sheet, it displays the crit damage as X + Y where X is your normal damage and Y is your bonus damage from the crit. Well if I just put the entire damage in the crit field, I can have the it be X + Y where X is the damage if it is a normal hit, and Y is the damage if is a crit.
Stop using the shaped sheet... heh. That's my personal opinion. It's using sheet workers way too much and taking too much control out of players hands. Case in point, the crit damage and things like removing all the capital letters from alignment or adding inline roll brackets around numbers in the equipment area.

No matter, glad you found a solution. As your initial question has been adequately resolved, I'll close this thread.
