So, I see a lot of people saying they want to focus on RP, rather than combat, etc. Now, I'm not trying to insult anyone. I'm honestly looking for an answer, because I think it will help me GM better in the future. To me this doesn't make sense. I mean, if you want to strictly RP you can quickly find forums or chat for RP. If you aren't wanting combat, the few times combat occurs in these places shouldn't be an issue, even if you're kind of winging it. Systems are in place for combat and action, not RP. I've yet to see a system that focuses on how to RP. Sure there's lore, and I love lore. Sure there's a story line. I love good story progression. And, I understand that min-maxing can break immersion or game mechanics. But, here's what I don't understand: If you are only interested in RP, why are you playing a game ? Why are you playing a game when you avoid what makes it a game in the first place? Unless there is a staggering amount of character and story progression, I find it frustrating when/if a four hour session has no combat. I don't feel like I've played anything. And I'm not trying to discourage people from using Roll20 to RP focus. I'm genuinely curious, because there seems to be more RP focused players out there than players like myself. I'm wondering if someone can explain it to me, so I can be more accommodating for these players when I GM. And, sorry, I wasn't sure where to put this thread.
