Another problem I ran into quickly is (me being in a hurry to throw my maps up) that I don't always remember to select the correct layer type and there is no easy way to convert the layer type and i have to start the re-arrangement, re-sizing, and it's just not fun. EDIT: OOPS, Searched for topics like this one and didn't find one. sorry!

Drag a box and select everything you want to move, ctrl-c, delete it (backspace), paste it onto the correct layer. It will all be the same size and position it was in originally. You can also hold shift and click on each individual item you want to move if dragging a box would be problematic.
