Reginald Davies-Kirk, a Human Paladin: Reginald Davies-Kirk is the bastard son of a nobleman and a stable girl. Shortly after it was obvious his mother was pregnant with him, she ran away to a city far in the East to spare her child from the wrath of the nobleman's wife and to protect the Reginald's father from the shame of having a bastard offspring. Upon his 16th birthday, Reginald joined the local duke's military force, where he served for several years, and earned himself a large amount of respect from his fellow soldiers and commanders. Unfortunately, when he was 23 years old, his mother was struck with a severe sickness, all too common in this desolate world. Abandoning his post, he rushed to his mother's side in an attempt to help her through the disease, or at least ease her passing. Sadly, his mother passed, and Reginald was struck with hopelessness. The one person who cared for him all this time was gone. He found solace in the drink, and his comrades found him in a drunken stupor several days later after being ordered by one of his commanders to find him. Fortunately for him, his excellent service kept him from being immediately executed. Rather, he was exiled from the duke's lands, and forced to wander the countryside for work and a purpose in life. It was in the city of Arembal found his purpose. The warrior-monks of The Order of Malenar's Burning Fist were there, purging malefic powers from the city, for they had heard rumors of a cult trying to summon a powerful demon they had been worshiping. The cult managed to summon the demon, and it began wreaking havoc upon the city. The city guard, Reginald, and the Order of Malenar's Burning Fist immediately jumped into battle, with the latter chanting sacred incantations to weaken and force the demon back into the immaterium. Reginald showed great bravery and skill during the battle, managing to slay a minor demon and several of the cultists. He was offered a place in the Order's ranks, and, seeing a chance for a purpose in life again, he graciously accepted. Reginald traveled to the Order's fortress monastery, to train and become a member of the Ordo Palatinus. The Order of Malenar's Burning Fist follows the teachings of their founder, Malenar. They are not solely comprised of paladins, and are in fact an extremely varied institution. Many members travel through this crumbling world in an attempt to purge mutants, demons, and other foul beings, and to hopefully bring some shred of light to the miserable masses they serve. Many others seek out information to give the Order an edge against their foes. Additionally, though Order does not worship any single deity, its members are certainly able to if they wish, as long as it's not an 'evil' deity. He spent years training his mind and body in the ways of the Order: To combat the beast, the demon, and the wretched of humanity. He followed after his master, Lukas Ericsson, until being found worthy to work on his own. For several years Reginald travelled from place-to-place and performing his duties. One day, Reginald was determined to be experienced enough for his own protege, a half-elf named Elias Hawklight. After several months of travelling together, tragedy struck once again. Members of the Order are not infallible, and the pair was ambushed by several shadowy figures. They captured Elias and left Reginald for dead. He has sworn to find his apprentice and stop them before they can cause anymore harm. Reginald's Experience with Orcs: Reginald has extensive experience with Orcs, though dealing with them is not his main forte. He is of the mindset that any individual who attacks him without provocation, as Orcs often do, is fair game and he will take all necessary steps to neutralize them. However Reginald is almost always willing to speak with people and give them a chance, which is why he did not have a problem with speaking to the Orc captain. But if the Orc captain proves to be a threat too big to handle, Reginald will not be afraid to drop the motherfucker. Reginald's goals: Short term: Discover more about Apex, and if necessary, kill him Medium term: Find his apprentice, and promote him into a full-fledged Order member. Long term: Discover more about Venin's past and Venin's views. Uncommon Item: Reginald wishes to be found worthy of possessing a Holy Avenger (or a Sacred Avenger) by the gods.To him it would be the ultimate proof that his cause is noble and that he has done his duty. Adventure/Topic Idea: I think a situation where we have to deal with a very morally grey king would be super interesting. Perhaps they posses resources to help in the war against Carvex, but aren't willing to play ball. It would be a great opportunity for intrigue and roleplaying, as well as some conundrums for Reginald about whether or not to keep an individual in power who is great for stability, but awful for the people.

The Raven of Volgo Bay The Raven had been plaguing the port town of Volgo Bay for months. At first it was the murder of a beggar here, the vivisection of a courtesan there, the only link being a few witnesses seeing a bird-like figure flying from the scene of the crime. But then it got bolder. It's murders became more and more daring, and the city guard was incapable of doing anything about it. Finally, the high priest of the town was found in his chapel, or at least what was left of him was found. Seeing no other option, the mayor of the town called upon The Order of Malenar's Burning Fist, and a master and his apprentice were dispatched to find the elusive Raven, and put an end to it's reign of terror. It is pitch black, the only light provided by torches and lanterns. There is a heavy downpour and thunder echoes in the distance. A group of individuals is heading to the scene of the Raven's latest victim. We see a younger Reginald, one less scarred and worn, wearing a fresh suit of chainmail. He is travelling along with a small band of men in women in matching uniforms, and they are being led by a massive man in battered plate mail covered in furs. They are silent, save for the clomping of boots on the cobblestone path of a dark alley. No one wanders the streets at this hour anymore, save for the truly insane or truly desperate, all the civilians have barred their doors in the hopes of being spared the Raven's wrath. Suddenly, the man in plate mail stops, and raises his hand, gesturing for the others to stop as well. He sniffs the air and says, "The Raven is among us, stay on guard. Reginald, use your vision and see if you can find it. This rain ruins my sense of smell." Reginald starts scanning the rooftops for a malevolent presence, he catches it, but it quickly leaps to another position. There is a gust of wind, and a high-pitched warble can be heard, forming words from what is clearly an inhuman mouth, "I see the blind old coot saw fit to send someone after me. I suppose it was only a matter of time. I hope you prayed to whatever false god you worship before venturing out tonight." There is a whoosh of air as a feathered humanoid figure with terribly long legs and short arms leaps from a nearby shadow onto on of the city guards, and quickly ends his life. There is hardly any time to react before it is upon another victim. A pitched battle ensues, the alley flooding with blood as the guards are viciously killed off one-by-one, until only Reginald and his master Lukas Ericsson are the only ones left. Both are bloodied and tired, only managing to avoid killing blows by the narrowest of margins. But the Raven is also growing tired, it's movements are beginning to slow. In desperation it charges at Lukas, smashing him into a building and stunning him. The Raven turns to Reginald, intending to finish him off. It attacks with all the energy it has left, landing several terrible blows, and several last-second blocks with his sword is all that saves Reginald from a killing blow. Finally Reginald sees his chance, the Raven is out of tricks and out of time, and Reginald quickly runs it through with his sword and collapses in exhaustion. The next thing he feels is a palm being pressed into his back, filling him with renewed energy. He stands, a little wobbly, but standing nonetheless. He turns to his master, who's got the widest grin imaginable. "Well done, my boy. I thought that thing had us for a moment. It would've were it not for those moves you pulled on it. Shame about the guards, but it happens. At least the people of this town will be able to rest easy now." As he speaks, his breath smells faintly of liquor, and a serious expression takes over his face, "You know it won't ever get any easier. You'll be sent on harder and harder assignments, and the foes you face will get evermore powerful. The Boss Man doesn't mean to treat us as expendable, but you have to make sacrifices against the foes we face. At the end of the day all you can do is hope to take as many of the bastards with you as possible when your time comes. That's what my master told me, and it's held true the entire time I've been with the Order. I'm sure you'll tell your own apprentice the same one day. But, seeing as that's your first real kill, why don't you take a trophy. After that we can celebrate by informing the mayor of our deed and getting some rest." Reginald listens intently to his master's words, and while not entirely agreeing with them, he sees the wisdom in them. He takes an offered knife from Lukas, and begins skinning the Raven, taking it's feathers for his own. After speaking to the mayor they head back to the town's inn for a short rest, and are gone at dawn the next morning, in search of another malefic force to deal with.
Don't open those dimension doors all willy-nilly! Zagegorim tried to open a door to another plane And what he saw drove him insane Demons and other monsters from came out of hell And soon the town guard was overwhelmed

Reginald's Thoughts on Carvex Reginald is more concerned with the daemons Carvex's conquests are releasing on the world than Carvex himself. Additionally, Reginald feels that if Carvex is successful is taking control of Radelf and the other planes and he defeats the Endless Ones, his power won't last. Governments that take power through clandestine actions and back-stabbing are sure to suffer the same in return. Carvex faces eternity, and other heroes are sure to arise to usurp his power. Reginald's Thoughts on War War is messy, useless business to Reginald and he much prefers surgical strikes with highly trained operatives. But from his past as an infantryman he realizes that war is sometimes and unfortunate necessity. Reginald and the Order prefer to stay out of wars if at all possible, unless either side is using malefic powers to gain an edge. If such a situation arises, they will quickly rally and destroy any and all individuals involved in the use of maleficarum. Such beliefs and tactics have not helped the Order make any friends over the years, but their dedication to neutrality and their willingness to assist nearly any faction in purging itself of daemonic influence counteracts this. This has led to vast treaties labyrinthine in their complexity, and entire wings of the order are devoted to keeping track of it all. Reginald's Past Lovers and Trysts Reginald's nomadic lifestyle doesn't lend itself to any long-term relationships. He won't turn down sex if a good opportunity arises, but it's more about relieving stress than anything else. A large amount of lovers lay in Reginald's past, and after the duty was done he has gone on his way, disregarding or unaware of any of their possible feelings for him. Reginald's immunity to disease is an additional reason he needn't worry about the consequences of his affairs too much. Though having an illegitimate child would be awkward.

Order Killteams "No thing, living or dead, has ever stood in the way of a Killteam. For if it had, the world would have ended long ago." - Master Iocobus, Treatise on the Organization and Tactics of the Order of Malenar's Burning Fist Unless a member of the Order is mentoring an apprentice, they typically work alone or assemble groups of followers who don't belong to the Order. Typically these followers will consist of militiamen or soldiers sworn into the Order member's service following a deed the Order member performed for a lord. However, in dire scenarios members of the Order will be assembled to deal with whatever threat has presented itself. A Killteam is typically composed of four seasoned veterans of the Order. Several Killteams may be assembled to deal with the same threat, and they may work as one large group or target separate objectives. Generally no Killteams are in existence. Recently, several have been formed to take on some of the more severe daemonic incursions. The most Killteams ever assembled for a single threat is five. The composition of Killteams is extremely variable, but there are a few generalizations that can be made. A senior scribe from the Ordo Scriba is almost always present, to prepare the team for anything they may encounter. This scribe is likely to be very magically proficient. A member of the Ordo Palatinus is also typically present, to form the 'backbone' of the group. The other two members are far less standard, and their selection is always based upon the needs of the mission. Additional magic power is always welcome, especially if the Killteam's scribe is lacking in that area. Missions requiring a Killteam are extremely deadly. One death is almost guaranteed, and several or all of the members dying is not unheard of. Due to this, the members of the Killteam receive an honorary funeral before being sent on their way. However this does not mean Killteams are sent unprepared for their duty. Instead, they are given the best equipment and knowledge the Order has to offer, including sacred relics and tomes that cannot be reproduced. The possibility of having to sacrifice or lose these objects is seen as a reasonable risk to the Order. Relics can be reforged and knowledge can be reclaimed, the same is not true for the world. To join the secretive Ordo Draco, one must have successfully served in a Killteam. Even still, their selection process is extremely stringent. A man may serve the Order honorably his entire life, and he may still be found lacking. As a result, the number of Ordo Draco members in the Order of Malenar's Burning Fist has rarely exceeded single digits.
