Who is interested in a D&D Next game? I've drafted up a map and am looking to start the campaign at level 1 and you will need to pick backgrounds and draft up a history for your character, for the majority of the campaign will be player-based and player-influenced. The fate of Nerathenia will be in your hands. Overworld Map Type: Island, Small (First 5 levels), Continent Large (Once unlocked), Planar Region (Latter Levels) Level start: 1 Classes that are needed for starting the campgain: At least 1 fighter and 1 cleric, backgrounds intertwined. Other classes may be chosen, so long as these two are filled first. Backgrounds suggested for classes: Monk - Commoner, Fighter - Soldier, Barbarian - Blacksmith, Cleric - Commoner, Mage - (TBD). You ought to remember that Nerathenia is a martial-based region, where arcane magic is despised and rare. Characters that use Arcane magic would be subject to ownership by the Guild (Will be fleshed out on the Obsidian Portal site). Obsidian Portal Site: (Will be added once the Home Page for the campaign is completed) EDIT: Game session dates and times will be decided shortly after the 12th of September, but will likely be mid-day on the weekends. Secondary EDIT: Forgot to add the char creation details. 28 point-buy, utilizing the standard point-buy array detailed in the Character Creation documents of the Playtest.
I am very interested in Join this group and trying out the newest D&D. However I would like to try an Elf Rogue but I can be the class needed to fill in if need be.
Interested but would need to know what day this would occur on.
I've never played D&D Next but should gladly give it a shot. I'll just need to get my hands on the PHB or similar such thing to take a look at the rules and system that I'll be jumping into.
I would like to try out D&D Next. I already have the play test packet and prepared a character, halfling fighter.

Hello i would love to try out D&D Next i am very familiar with D&D 4e so i know the basics of D&D. I have a character ready he is a Half-Elf Rouge and here is his backstory. Being a young halfling is hard. Mostly when you're an orphan, poor, and desperate. Things quickly changed for Bovin. Young and adamant on surviving no matter what; He would steal daily from fruit shops training his stealth and thievery he also had a companion named Ander (Bovin always thought of himself as the leader but Ander was always ahead of him and leading Wil to victory). He woke up one day and Ander was gone he had no idea what happened until one of the carers told Bovin ander died he got caught by a merchant and the merchant got too mad he would not let a theif go. Once he was old enough to leave the orphanage he went on a quest to find great treasures in memory of ander. it would be awesome if you could do the campaign on sunday :)

A friend of mine and me (not a couple in case you were worried) would very much like to apply for this. Staying true to my character and how she would react to things is very important to me - I am not interested in groups that HAVE to follow the plot and can't explore on their own without getting killed or horribly bored because nothing happens 'over there'. I am very much a character player and tend to add roleplay character flaws and at times even lower attribute points if I happen to roll too well and it doesn't work with the character concept (granted, thats a luck thing unless you give us attribute scores that are already set in stone). I find it completely unrealistic if a group of more or less random adventurers (even if they are friends) agree on every single thing/course of action in life. Party conflict can be a lot of fun (both for the GM and the players) as long as players don't confuse my characters' actions or sentiments with my own. Combat every now and then is fine, I know some people love that and I like to be at least useful (support, crowd control, the usual) there as well, but its not something that should fill a whole session. Same goes for my friend, really, except that he optimises more for combat than I do, I think :) In general, I would assume that the fighter&cleric duo would work well for us since we already know each other, so no faking a friendship there... but we're pretty flexible. We don't have any experience with D&D Next (well, it IS new), but have played 3.5e before so there is that. That being said, I do have a few questions. You mentioned weekends. Friday or Saturday would work just fine for us, and it would be great if you could specify a timezone to see whether we could join in at all. How long do you plan the sessions to be? What are you planning on using for voicechat? Neither of us has a webcam and we would prefer not to use skype for voice simply because you can't configure other peoples' volume levels, hear allthethings and the likes but It'll definitely do if you are firm on using that instead of say Mumble, Ventrilo or Teamspeak.
Sessions will be an average of three hours or more, pending combat or rp. My timezone is CST -6 GMT. More than likely the game will be at 1:00pm on Saturday. William, your character can be considered as approved as soon as you provide me his or her name. Mouse, I would be honored to have you and you r friend join us. Matt H., consider yourself invited, as soon as you provide me a character name. Xelus, make a character and we will see. No more fighters though, two is enough of that class. Josh and fenrich, make characters and we will see about you joining. I believe that makes six and no sane DM would take on more, so until further notice, this group is closed. Note: The Obsidian portal is nearly complete, just awaiting names so character secret pages can be made.
Oh, add me on skype: nathanwilson1993 I will need to speak with Mouse and her friend for the backstory of the two characters they wish to play.
Saturday 1pm for you would be 8pm for us at the moment so that would work perfectly ( <a href="http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/?qm=1&amp;lid=2950159,6&amp;h=2950159&amp;date=2013-9-2&amp;sln=20-20.5" rel="nofollow">http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/?qm=1&amp;lid=2950159,6&amp;h=2950159&amp;date=2013-9-2&amp;sln=20-20.5</a> ) - I added you on Skype and hopefully we'll manage to talk at a time when both my friend and I are online.
