[LFP] Call Of Cthulhu 7th edition

Been a member of Roll20 pre-merger and been GMing for almost 30 years. Will be starting a CoC game, twice a month. Modern day setting.  Character creation will have a 65% cap on attributes and skills.  All archetypes welcome!
The campaign I was a part of just fell apart, and I would love to join another game. Do you have a particular time slot or day in mind?
Count me in. And yes, time slot?
It will be a Wednesday evening. Depending on time zones, I was going to find a time that works for everyone. I'd prefer 7pm EST.
Wednesdays are actually pretty bad for me, though I understand if that's the only day that works.
Let's just see how everyone else feels about the day of the week. I'm totally open to other days.

I'd be interested but couldn't usually make it before 8 on Wednesday
Damn, I have a game that starts at 8pm EST or else I'd be all in.
I could probably do Wednesdays after 8pm EST as well. Though it might be a deal breaker, I tend to rely on text/typing instead of a mic or webcam because I have a young child who likes to wake up at the slightest noise.
Texting is fine, I have toddlers as well so I understand.
Tuesdays at 8 or 9 CST?
I am interested and Wednesdays work (or Tuesdays) but like others I could only do after 8 EST
This may came across as a dumb question, but I'm still fairly new to the system and have only played in the classic 1920's setting. But I was wondering if there was any difference in gameplay between a modern game and one set during prohibition? I'm assuming that the mechanics are the same, but the skill and equipment choice are modified to fit with current technology.
I'm keen.. I too have played 1920's but a Modern Campaign might be good.. My mic doesn't work but I can use my tablet on Skype and that seems to work fine for voice. I'm unfamiliar with 7th edition character generation.. Happy to learn though. I played this at a conventiom recently and really liked it. Wednesday 7pm EST works for me too..
Mechanics are the same, some skills translate differently, but it's exactly the same. As for 7th edition character generation, it's very different from other editions. But the free quickstart guide from Chaosium is easy to follow. Basically attributes are like skills are, meaning they are d100. Magic is super cool and makes it easier for PCs to cast spells.
J C. said:  Magic is super cool and makes it easier for PCs to cast spells.   Oh, no.  I'm not falling for that.  I was told never to cast spells in CoC.  LOL   Will we need to get the new 7th ed rules or will the older rulesets suffice?   Also, any info about setting (other than modern day), types of characters, general theme of the campaign?
I can share the rulebook to you guys. I would say it's a modern noir, the first session or two will mostly be investigative but the pace gets hectic around session 3. (by hectic I mean combat really kicks in). I try to give 2 sessions to hammer out PC personality, figure out group dynamics and get PCs a honed skill or two before diving into fast paced stuff.
Anyone wanting the free quickstart for PC creation, it's  here .
I'd love to jump in here, but Wednesday's don't work for me. Basically any other night after 7pm CST would work fine.  Ive not played a CoC game yet, but I've read through the 7e QuickStart and have the keepers book, which I've been reading though
It's sounding like a Tuesday fits everyone, yeah? Also, curve ball here, roll20 ate my modern campaign, so we're going with 1920's. Noir, dark, fast and mature theme (horror and gruesome stuff).

I can convert your character sheets if you guys want to use byakhee to generate them. Or just send me your raw numbers and I can put them into sheets. <a href="http://jcfiala.net/content/byakhee-coc-character-generator" rel="nofollow">http://jcfiala.net/content/byakhee-coc-character-generator</a>

Unfortunately, Tuesdays don't mesh well with my schedule. But since its every other week I could probably make it after 8pm EST. Do you want the characters created before the first session?&nbsp;
I can definitely do Tuesdays if that's what everyone else can do. Later than 8 EST works for me.

Just joined this site, so am a complete newbie on how this works. Also just got my hands on 7ed of CoC so would be very interested in playing. Being from Scotland the start time looks to be at midnight/ 1am ish for me, but if the games good it'll be worth it.
Yes, please have your sheets to me before the game starts. That way I have time to convert and enter them onto your tokens.
Just to be clear we're no longer playing Modern day right?
Yes, that's right. 1920-30's.
Link to join. Tuesday 8pm MST <a href="https://app.roll20.net/join/86472/h_6sWg" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/join/86472/h_6sWg</a>
Is it alright if a fairly noob to Cthulhu joins in? (as in the system because the books and world I am a huge fan of)
form fillable character sheets. the autocalc versions do some of the math for you. <a href="http://www.chaosium.com/cthulhu-character-sheets/" rel="nofollow">http://www.chaosium.com/cthulhu-character-sheets/</a> i am trying these rather than byakhee because I can't read the character sheet in byakhee.&nbsp; All scrunched up with fonts all over each other
I'm totally down to tag along. Been looking over the quickstart rules for 7e to get ready, I'm relatively new to CoC but I promise not to muck things up too much.
