Interest Check: Pathfinder Newbie Friendly One-Shots (Sunday, GMT)

Hey guys, I'm trying to see how much interest there would be in a one-shot game of Pathfinder. Mostly I'd be aiming this at new(er) people trying to get into roleplaying, but I'd be perfectly fine with veterans joining as long as they don't get impatient with newer people. So there would be plenty of opportunity to ask about rules and learn what's what. About the adventure: I've recently run a small campaign to get my regular pathfinder group off the ground until our actual DM was done prepping his stuff and people were not too unhappy with the results, so I'll be re-using an imporved version of this for our session. The gist of it is, that there's a newly founded mining town in the northern regions of the world and your group of (potential) followed the lure of adventure, the open road or just a change of scenery. Overall what I have prepared focuses more on interaction with the world that does not involve putting 3 feet of steel between someone's ribs. You can explore the town and surrounding areas to your heart's content, or follow the obvious campaign hook, which is currently the buzz of the town: The main plot revolves around a series of murders that players can chose to investigate if they like. Making things newbie friendly I've been thinking about a few things I'd have liked to have explained to me when I was starting out and I'll try to work these into the session. Depending on where everyone starts, knowledge-wise, we'll work through some of the rolls and skill checks in the open, even if it's things the GM usually rolls for you. After the adventure, if you like, I can give a few pointers on what other options would have been available to you. Interrupting to ask questions will generally be okay, because this is explicitly supposed to be newbie friendly. I'll also be available from time to time during the week to help people with character generation if needed. The limits of that I'm quite willing to explain things and stuff, but if anyone is serious about getting into roleplaying, he or she should also be aware that there is some decent amount of research one has to do. Basically what I'm saying is that sometimes I am more interested in helping you understand concepts of this fine past time than I am in reading the rulebook to you. I feel this is something everyone can do by himself. Sound fair? If no, who said I had to be fair? :3 Requirements Being available at the specified time helps. :3 Aside from that, I'd also expect you to have a character ready to go when we're starting the session. This includes a bit of backstory as to why you're adventuring and why you're travelling to this newly founded town. Ideally you'll also have a good idea of your character's character, so to speak. Also: Reading this entire post. The Details: Sunday, 08.09.2013, early afternoon (around noon-1pm or so), GMT Timezone, aiming for about 4-5 hours of game time Skype (talking to people!) + roll20.net (rolling dice and stuff!) + myth-weavers.com (character sheets!) Pathfinder Core Rules only, unless otherwise cleared by me ( www.d20pfsrd.com has a good list of all the core rules) Character generation: 15 Point buy, level 1, use average gold, no evil alignments >80% roleplaying, <20% combat Final Words Well, this is the part where you guys write things. Questions? Suggestions? Letting me know this is a royally dumb idea? All of this and more can be written by you, in this thread!

if you or your GM that is prepping your next quest need any help or get stuck I make programs that random generate everything a GM could want or need and i do not charge as i want more people to be rpgs my tools are made for the Mazith system but will work for any world with magic

I'm quite interested! I haven't tried pathfinder before, but would love to try it out. I've acquired the core rulebook and looked through it, and was watching a few sessions on a stream, so I'd say I understand the basics. I'm a 20 year old guy from Denmark, so I'm in the GMT+2 timezone, have skype and everything. I'd love to join you if possible! Ninja-edit: Oh, and thanks for thinking about us newbies, it's awesome that some people like you take the time to help us get started!

I'm interested too! I'm fairly new to RPGs in general, I've got some experience DMing a pathfinder game (one session so far, a whole group of newbies! Was a blast.), but I'd love to be a player in a game, at least once. I'm a 25 year old Swede, currently living in Scotland. Skype set up and all that jazz. Will start making a character right away if you need another player for the game. Edit: As a note for the other players, I'm very interested in the magic classes, particularly the sorcerer and the wizard and will probably play one of those two.
Well, seems there's some interest :3 I think we're gonna roll with 5-6 people, more than that makes it hard for everyone to get his fair share of spotlight. If there's a lot more people applying than that I might repeat this in the future, rather than have one huge session with 10+ people. But let's burn that bridge when we cross it, shall we? For those interested, if you haven't already done so, it would be good if you give me a bit of info about your background. If you want to get in touch with me before the session, drop me a PM and I'll give you my skype. Otherwise, I think I said it all in my original post.
I'll send you my backstory and more info about myself via PM !
Oh yea, and once we have our group of players, it might be a smart thing for us to get all of you (the players) talking together so you can get to know each other a bit and perhaps make sure we don't roll with 5 rogues. Unless you want to. I'm not saying you couldn't make that work. ;)
I would like to join. Fishy, I sent you a PM.

Alright, then we've got 4 people that seem pretty comitted (i.e. got in touch with me and are preparing their characters), which leaves room for 1-2 more. The group is looking pretty balanced so far: Fighter, Druid, Wizard and a rogue if I recall correctly. Which is amazing if you guys didn't somehow conspire on this. :D
Guy, we should do a meet and greet type thing via skype (my skype is littleblackleopard)
Sounds like a good idea, I'm unable to join in on a meet and greet until later in the days (if even then!) during the weekdays due to work though, but if we can arrange something for sometime on Saturday I'm good.
I'm working until 4-5'ish on weekdays, but I'm also available on Saturday. :)

We could still accomodate one more person, but if noone else shows up by saturday, we are good to go with 4 players + DM as well. As far as the meet and greet goes, I'm unavailable saturday afternoon due to other roll20 related things. Friday afternoon / evening or saturday morning would work for me.
I wouldn't mind taking this remaining spot then. I'm mostly free, so if I am allowed to join, the meeting business would not be an issue for me either.
I was wondering if there still open spots, I'm very interested in playing! Sunday works great for me, and I'm basically free for the meet and greet, I just have something saturday afternoon.
Right now there's 5 people that seemed pretty serious about playing. With you, Pedro, we'll be 6 players, which is my upper limit. So I'd say hop on in, but you've just gotten the last spot ;)
I think Saturday would be good. I am free all day. I think the meeting should be 1:00pm (GMT) If you needs a GMT zone time convertor here is a good one: http://www.thetimezoneconverter.com/
I can probably drop in as well for a bit on saturday until my other campaign starts. :3
