Date: 8th Patchwall, 609 CY Attendance: Wulrakas, Jareth, Cat ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recap: Two weeks have passed since the Brewfest celebrations. The party finds itself increasingly isolated from the world at large, Gradsul in particular, where the boy mage Drawmij has increased his foothold. He now boasts the title of Advisor to the Duke. The demiplane has an assortment of interior decorations, including the Beast of Marlgrove's pelt -- courtesy of Thruskk. The half-orc barbarian, missing an eye and his left arm thanks to a scrap with the Revenant Lila Ketborn, now calls the demiplane home. He offers his services as a blacksmith in exchange for a place to hide out until the Revenant is laid to rest for good. On the 8th of Patchwall, their patron, Rexi the Cat Lord, beckons the party to the main hall. Here she distributes tasks among them. Alena and Virgil will assist her in finding something important pertaining to Drawmij, though the details are vague. Cat, Woolie and Jareth will look into a mysterious set of murders involving cats in the region. Ranging anywhere from feral cats to the Countess' own pet, the murders have been going on for at least a week. Rexi is wary, figuring it to be a trap laid by Drawmij to lure them out. She tells them to be careful before she, Virgil and Alena set out. The remaining three enjoy a breakfast with Thruskk before setting out themselves. Leaving the demiplane teleports them to one of the lower districts, where Jareth learns of some cat corpses found by a nearby vagrant. He leads them to a narrow alleyway where the corpses are scattered about. While examining them, a cat zombie shambles through the debris. It bites on Woolie's boot, breaking its teeth, and continues to suckle on the Dragonborn's armored foot until Jareth puts it out of its misery. While picking up the corpses to give a proper burial, Jareth feels a strange tattoo on the zombie cat. He sketches out the symbol and brings it to Magnus Finch, Archmage of the Sea Mages Guild. Finch reveals that the symbol was oft used by an odd, one-time student of the University. He gives them directions to the young man's last known location, a hovel in one of the lower districts. Upon reaching it and lockpicking the front door, the group finds themselves in a small, dusty room. Cat corpses are scattered about. Eventually, Jareth finds a hidden passage leading down. Cat leaps in and sets off a trap, singing his fur. The three now cautiously proceed, finding a small subterranean cave beneath the hovel. In the center a fire pit burns, where the corpses of countless cats and thrown in and around the flames. As Jareth moves closer to disable another trap, they are attacked. Their attackers are a scrawny, pale man concealed beneath a heavy black robe, and a Raksasha who makes no effort to conceal his true identity. Spells are slung and Cat is downed, permanently frozen thanks to a cone of cold spell.
