RP; Song of Heart & Blade

One evening, when Ezekiel Boone is about to close after holding the meeting in Chanter's Hall, a shadowy figure stands up and approaches Boone. Turns out it is Syvil swept in a dark cloak which he now pushes back. You had seen the figure during the session; most had given it some more space at it seemed ominous but Syvil's smile is as warm and mischievous as ever. Your song is ever the balm for the soul Boone; though I feel strangely that it holds much more power than that to create a sense of temporary harmony. You know the name "Wind Singers"? I can't help but think that such a term would not fit ill with what you do here. That is why I want to help, because this, this gathering is worth more than I think is apparent. You are trying to buy Chanter's Hall are you not? Could I make a contribution?
"Aye, friend. We're trying to buy the place and turn into a permanent hall, and maybe a bit of a refuge. If you want to make a donation well that'd be right nice of you... can't promise any returns or privileges though, I hope yer understand." (sorry for short replies, I am the very ill again today )

Priveleges? You jest; aiding this cause and what I think it will become is privilege enough. One day Mr. Boone this hall will not just be sung in, but sung of . Here is a hundred gold, I know you will spend it well and hope only that my using coin, not labour to help is not taken as offense. Should ever have need of a blade or healing here in the hall; I am at your service. It has been sometime since last you saw it but again Syvil makes that gesture; touching his left shoulder, just above the heart, and swiping his hand down across his chest. (Hope you feel better soon Zil!)
"Thanks friend, that's very generous of you. " Boone claps the smaller man on the shoulder affectionately and then draws Syvil aside for better privacy. He reaches into his jacket to bring out a leatherbound book unremarkable except for it's pleasant greenish cast. He hands it to the half-elf "This is the wind-singers book, it contains their songs. There is a power to them indeed, however I don't... I don't actually know the language. The words... they, this is strange but they tell me how they should sound... When I sing them I get a sense, I can tell whether it is a lament, a celebration a call for aid, and they make a space in which some power goes, but I don't know how Io fill it..." He casts a glance around again and continues "The Shepard who gave this to me to be careful, warned me that it might attract some evil like Dromon, the songs seem dangerous to them, they hate them. That tells me its rather important we be able to use them aye? I know I can trust you though, so if you are happy to help us further. I ask you to take the book for a little while, study the songs, if we can unlock the language then we can perhaps fight the Dromon with more than sticks and swords..."
This... The fact that you would say such a thing... Boone, I've had a vision, or perhaps I should rather say a sending. One of the scenes depicted a people of elven kin; singing a wondrous song that kept hordes of Dromen at bay. I hoped, but now I think I know what these songs are and that they indeed are those sung in my dreams... Thank you for your trust; I will not fail you. Syvil takes the book and stores it in one of the many hidden pockets of his armour and gives Boone a serious look. Best be careful with this, and Boone? Know that your actions are very open, if the Dromen have spies or agents in Haven they likely know and hate you for what you represent, for who you are, and, for what you do; be careful my friend.
OOC: I would do this in a PM with Stephen but what the hell; lets do it in the open! That night Syvil sits down with Calinaar and asks him to help translate the words in the book, seeking to understand and to help further the Chanter's cause. Should Calinaar not know he then seeks her guidance, for surely she would know, perhaps even have been there for the writing. Translating as much as he could Syvil would go into a state of peace as he sits locked up in his room, taking no food and only water to drink as he lets this task consume him.
-This was never followed up on; does Syvil indeed learn anything?-

The script is Lycean and the words meaningless to you or Calinaar. He explains; These are not words; they are the sounds heard in the Mysts. This is a Windsingers book from long ago. These words were not meant to be read but rather sung aloud, though to sing them takes great skill. The Windsingers of Lycea claimed they were the breath of the creator. It takes long skill to master them but these words have power over the Great Enemies of the past; over Skarn, and Cernas and the Vor-ar themselves. Indeed, over all things touched by them. But to learn these songs is a great undertaking. OOC; each 'song' in the book can be learn't and all have magical effects; though it is said that the learner does not understand them until the sounds have been mastered. One other thing; for the songs to have their full power, the singer must have heard the 'Myst-voice' speaking them because the written word cannot convey accurately something inherent in the words. Each song takes a feat's worth of effort (XP) to learn; though it does not take up a feat slot. Only after this is done does their meaning become clear.
OOC: Very interesting; well there you are Zil. A few days after receiving the book from Boone Syvil returns... I'm sorry master Boone; I can indeed read the language but the words are nonsensical. Not because they cannot make sense but because ... so you see; these songs are indeed powerful and will likely play an important role in the survival of Haven.

Ah cool would Cain have heard any Myst voice while he was crossing through it and cursed by it?
Just so you know marokin gave me a copy

Marokin has his fingers in many pies Zil; many pies.

Boone sighs and takes the Book back "Ah, well... nothing worth while comes easy as my father used to say. I'll just have to keep on as I've been going. Thanks for you effort nevertheless, friend."
For a good cause Boone; always. If you ever do learn any of those songs I know someone who would love to hear a rendition, think you would like her. With that he leaves, whistling a soft tune he once heard in a dream.

Cain; you did hear a strange music but the words are lost to you because of the pain and your near death.
After some days you see Marokin meeting you in the Chanter's hall again. Dear Master Boone,  I thank you for the book, however these songs are not powerful as the one song that you sang at the inn can be. Did you receive the book back again that you showed to me at the inn? I think those songs are closer to the source and some things seemed to have gotten lost in translation. I can try to teach you the one song I have learned, however, even if I teach you there is no guarantee that the spirits and gods will hear you. These are the songs of the myst as you might know. The Elvarin  took inspiration from a 'Great Song', so they called the sound of the mysts. Those Lyceans that could hear this song and taught it to the mere mortals were the Windsingers. A fitting name, don't you think? The people who hear the sound of the wind of the myst... But as I mentioned, your folk seemed to have lost something, and I would like to know the original...
Aye, I'll take me book back thanks, an I'm grateful you left me a new hammer after mine were lost in that tomb. I do have my other book back I won't lie. You can try and teach me as you like but I tell you truthfully I probly ent going to lend it out to ye, yev not really told me owt I didnt know or couldn've gotten if'n I pestered a scholar. Frankly I don't know you well enough, certainly don't trust you well enough to comfortable entrustin ye with something that could be so important just yet. Maybe in the future when I know for true what sort of man you are, friend.
You are a peculiar character Mr Boone. Ask other people like Cain, that went with us to the vale, about me and you will see. Realize, yes this book is important, I was granted a vision about these songs and was entrusted with one of them, I am content to say that these people who made the songs chose to give me this knowledge. Marokin's eyes flash red and his founds bears a note of annoyance. Yet, apparently they did not put their trust into you, neither do you understand them. Y ou fail at singing them and it was there choice to keep that from you.   These songs are important and you should know that darkness is coming and they will be needed. These songs are songs of woe and protection and the people of Maladon will need this protection, they won't be privileged enough to hide on an island and perhaps leave with a ship. They will suffer first and foremost, and you are denying me ways of helping them. His eyes return to the white they had in the beginning. At least let me read the book in your presence, I don't need to take it with me and you will hear what I learn in that moment.
as this conversation is happening you hear the main doors open and a man walks in who you thought you would never see in your hall, Erolith walks in and says firmly "i am looking for Boone"
Marokin's eyes flash with annoyance again. Erolith... where have you've been hiding... well... you found him... this is Boone. And Marokin points at Boone.
Oh marokin I did not expect to see you here Erolith walks forward, I have been on the mainland I'm back simply to check on things here then I'll be off again, I'd thank you not to tell people you saw me I try and stay out of sight mostly, thank you for pointing him out Erolith walks up to Boone but we know each other already it's been some time Boone I hear of the work your doing good to see I'm not the only one but we need to talk
The long fingers of Erolith.. I see. Well, Mister Boone, think about what I said and should you consider my request I am sure you can find me. As can you. Marokin nods to Erolith and then to Boone and walks out.
" Oh goody, another person with mysterious motivations I hardly even know has come to accost me! I haven't seen hide nor hair of you in better part of a year eh Mindartis, but I suppose you'll be wanten me book too? Well I'm getting pretty damn tired of every enigmatic bastard with a hidden agenda suddenly come to wrap me up in their bloody secrets and tie me down with a ribbon of lies, while they can have themselves a gander and grope on what ever item of interest failed to get sucked up into their grasping little fingers! So go on then, make your silly grand speach or whatever and get it over with so I can get on with my day "
Look Boone if I wanted your book I could have people take it and yes it's been a year but where you stay in your hall and try and sing free your trouble I deal with them, you know nothing of what's really going on in this city or on haven, and I'm not here to take something from you but here to give you formation, tell me Boone what do you know about what's really going on because you, that book and all the words into are connected and my people are linked with it in a way i've come to bring light to your hall Boone there is a war coming and we are going to need you now let's talk
" Aha, is that how it's going to be eh? Listen here you arrogant ranting fool, you come in here to my place of worship, insult me, belittle our work and then try to act the high and mighty saviour to whom no mores and principles apply merely because you think you have the right of it. You think you'll get my help in whatever damn fool nonsense war you want to bring!? I'm sorry to dissapoint you friend but I have three words for you; fuck, right, off! You are a shadow Mindartis, and a greasy one at that from what I've seen. If and when the dromon come it will be the light we need to drive them back not more darkness. So go on, get out, you've said your piece. "
after these words Eroliths eye flair blue hahaha oh Boone you know nothing I am darkness I did more in my darkness then you have in the whole time you have been here, you remember our trip to the red river who was the one who saved that boy was it you know it wasn't it was me who distracted the guard with my power and it was dorn who used my actions to help free him you did nothing to help but moan about leaving and acting like it was known of your businesse , it was my actions and that of dorn that gave the blue sashs such good standing with valemen and mostly why they trusted you with that book if I'm to guess, you think you know of dromen or of this war I'm not bringing it im fighting it, but please stay in your hall and sing your song wrong and stay blind to the darkness now being blocked by my actions alone, you have done nothing and the next time you see the valemen tell them lyddia says hello and remember Boone that road is open thanks to my actions and before you call me some scum suck fiend who hides in the shadow go to runic street and see what it looks like when someone actually makes a difference in this city
Oh my this is getting juicy (grabs some popcorn)
Boone steps close, leaning down a little so as to look directly into those augmented eyes. Calmly and quietly he speaks " Before I came to Maladon I had the pleasure of being a guest of the Hand. For three weeks, three long weeks they tortured me. They wrung every last thing from me and more besides. I had no great patron to borrow power from. My people had no influence to demand my release. Powerless, alone, helpless. I am glad that boy was spared that fate, I am glad we were lucky enough to be spared it too. I wonder though - after you meted it out to that guard in your distraction, after you showed him the darkness and spilled his blood with your phantasms, how many others were given it instead when his fellows gathered and thundered up and down that valley in anger. Do you ever think of that too? "
Erolith sighs and keeps close to Boone "i know all to well what the hand can do, i have known some of my people who escaped and were never the same again, i have seen horrible things Boone things that would make your three day torture look like a play ground and I'm not talking about this place no, i have lived a long time i have been in wars, holy crusades, and ventured into some of the darkest places in the empire, not for the right side i have done terrible things and have seen terrible things done by the people on the so called right side too, but i was a different man back then and my people were only one sided i know the truth now, and its why i have been hiding in the shadows because i have seen darkness Boon but whats happening here in this place and Maladon is something i have not seen in my one hundred years on this plane, it frightens me and it should you too because what we face is real and it wants all of us, but yes that man was hurt but was never killed and his people probably hurt someone else but all choices have consequences and not acting would of coursed more blood shed in different ways some times Boone there is no right answer just two choices which hold their own problems, i didnt come here to argue with you but to come here as an ally, i am not this evil creature you think well not fully and im not here to take anything from you but like i said to give you information, its good you dont trust me or anyone easily but we need each other we all do because like it or not Boone we have the power to change things in a big way it just depends in what way, but we have talked enough action is what is going to show you my truths and a visual aid never hurts, so come to Runic street Boone see what i have done then maybe we can talk again about this matter but ill only be here for today, i dont like staying to open for to long i cant have people connecting the dots watch yourself to Boone you are being watched also there are eyes everywhere probably even in this hall you need to be careful, Erolith sighs again well good talk come to Runic street Boone your be shocked in a good way Erolith gives a cheeky smirk and starts walking away.
Ooc Will Boone go to runic street and take erolith up on his offer Boone would of heard a rumour about a place in or near runic street where crime dose nor happen and the city guards don't patrol because is totally safe you would know it as the enclave
