A new-ish system? GMT timezone? Friday evening ? I know, if I wasn't so crazy I wouldn't be brimming with confidence either. Nonetheless I've had some success on that time and date in the past, so I figured what the heck. It's pretty much exactly what you see on the tin. I'm looking at GM'ing a game of Shadow of the Demon Lord. I have one confirmed player already, but that means I'm hunting for about three to four more persons who'd be interested in a game with a much more Gothic/Victorian/Bloodborne slant to it than the traditional medieval sword 'n sorcery thing. SotDL's default setting 'kind of' leans towards this with things like firearms, clockworks and trains, but it's really inconsistent in whether it wants to be your typical late-Medieval setting or something with more steam to it. If I had a gripe with the setting as given, it would be that. As a result, this won't be set in the default Northern Reach or even the same planet, but similar themes of horror, approaching/ascending evil and things gradually getting worse will remain. With that in mind, I'm also not somebody who likes vomiting up several A4 documents worth of world lore for somebody to digest before they even know that they're interested. I'm going to blatantly use Bloodborne/Souls as an 'inspiration' (see: excuse) and leave things pretty vague and open enough for character concepts to work well enough without needing an extensive geography lesson and lore book smacking around the chops. With that being said, I'm looking more at rifles, pistols, greatcloaks and lanterns than I am full platemail and shields, but if somebody really wants to run with an old fashioned wannabe-templar (keep in mind the system begins at Level 0) or something I won't say "no" even if they're behind the times by a handful of years. The game itself will take place in a specific city/region that all of the PCs will be foreigners to and thus gives an IC and OOC excuse for not knowing every other street name, local custom, etcetera, etcetera. Before I ramble on further however, I'm tossing this out there to check for interest. This will, by default, text-only but if people want to ramble and discuss combat and such in a Skype call I'm open to that as well. I'm somebody who's going to be including combat, but I'm a huge believer in characters and actual, y'know, roleplay taking front and center rather than running between the next combat encountered.
