[LFG] A Little Something Different

Hey guys and gals of r20, I just wanted to get this out there because I've been lurking the boards for a couple days now seeing what floats to the top and what drifts to the bottom - and something has occurred to me that I definitely want to get out there. Games are fun, and playing them is great but if the people inside them don't mesh as individuals, they crumble. What groups need are a strong foundation, and to that end I'd like to put this out there that while I'm not searching for a particular type of GAME, I am searching for a particular type of person or group of people. If you've made it this far, I'd like to put it on record that I am okay with GMing and I know a handful of systems and am willing to learn more. Shadowrun, Pathfinder, all of the big ones. But I've also got a hankering to play some of the more uncommon choices like Mutants and Masterminds or FATE. The ideal outcome here is to find a group of like-minded folks, players that play to play and not to win, people that LIKE one another, in other words. Compassionate, friendly, roleplay-centered, text-preferring folks that don't just exist in a vacuum where other people live to entertain them. If you've already got a game and are looking for players, great, shoot me a PM, I'd love to join! If you don't have a game and are looking for someone to run, same deal. I'm not opposed to setting up some kind of round robin type situation where we pass the GM torch every month or so. So... yeah. We'll exchange Skype info, we'll schmooze, we'll build something from the ground up - something that doesn't evaporate after the first two weeks. Help me, help you!
I couldn't agree more about focusing on people and their interests, before worrying about the game itself. I am 28 years old and been playing RPGs on and off for 15 years or so. I haven't had a group for a long time because I have been moving around a lot, so I have been scratching my RPG itch by developing my own game and setting. This has partly been because I have been unable to play much, but also I have moved on from certain RPG clichés. I am now more interested in character development and conflict than I am in power gaming. I like story more that slaughtering orc and leveling up. I am more interested in collaborative story telling along side players, than I am in railroading my adventure idea. I have an idea of running a game set in an Ancient Greek Mythology or a fantasy version of Renaissance Italy. If any of these ideas interest you, go ahead and shoot me an email: mensiklj@gmail.com I am happy just "schmoozing".
