Partner up with a Char creator

So, here's my suggestion and Idea. Where the journal entry is there should be a character creator. Partner up with one of these creators out there. I'm sure there's plenty that would like the exposure. Have premade macros that you can "check". These macros will autoupdate from your sheet. This will not only save everyone, especially the Gm/Dm time, but it will keep mistakes from running rampant. Having the sheet built in would open up a number of other possibilities. Just an idea. It could be optional, allowing homebrewers the ability to still play with their own setup/rules.

I would rather Roll20 didn't. I like the way it is at the moment.
I think it's a great idea. BTW, who downvoted him 4 times? lol
I'm not sure I would want a generic character sheet but I would like to see a "sum" function in the tables just to add up encumbrance and experience. I'd also like to be able to link ability modifiers from the table to my dice macros. /roll 1d20+"the melee to hit mod for strength" by just clicking on the relevant cell.
Ron, so you would like just more functionality with macros? Such as something like: /roll 1d20+MMOD (for melee Mod) which would auto calculate depending on how you filled in the journal? So you would need to add slots for Base attack bonus as well as weapon bonuses, etc. This is pretty much building a very raw char sheet in the journal. I'm only taking it a step further. I think it would be great to not have to have a bunch of different sheets open in the background, to just have the char sheet a click away and for it to auto update your macros.
The big problem I see with attaching a character generator of any sort is that Roll20 is supposed to be system agnostic and no char gen covers ALL systems. You'd either have to stick to systems with open content or ones that have agreed to work with the char gen folks. That means there's a quite a few people who wouldn't covered by any particular one. And while I would love to be able to create sets of macros and some kind of basic character sheet that I could just import into my campaign whenever I want, you run into pretty much the same problem. Anything that doesn't have open content or that you couldn't get some kind of agreement with leaves you open to copyright (or is it IP?) issues. It sounds like a great idea, but I can foresee lots of problems with it, sadly.
Ever since my RP group got split up with some members moving away we've been checking out different long-distance options. We stared off with doesnloadable programs, bu I kept crashing on hem so when it came to me taking a hand a GMing we turned to web-based and we looked a Infrno and roll20. We like Roll20 a lot better for the tabletop functions, but I like how Infrno handles character sheets. They have a lot of built in fields (like character description fields) and they have expandable fields (like skills, attirbutes, ect) It's still very open and generic and roll20 has moved in the right direction as it is. The only things that I could see to improve Roll20 is to have built-in templates that would automatically load in all the relevant fields for a given system, and it would nice to be able to import character generator material I do admit. If you just had a translation from a generator file to Roll-20 ha sounds great, but as a web-function it sounds complex.
wouldn't the easiest option be for you to be able to say load in a changeable pdf or other file type of your own and be able to set macros to the fields?
