Making token bin for players

I am trying to move a game here that has players in charge of multiple task force tokens. Players can choose to use these task forces (15 of them) as needed. Any suggestions where I can put these for user access / storage? Maybe on the map in a drawn bin container? Thanks for any ideas.
If it were me, I'd make characters for them, in the character settings set them to use "selected token" of the tokens for these task force types. Assuming you give players ownership of the tokens, they can drag them from their journals onto the field whenever they wish.

Look into Card Decks for another approach. They have a lot of settings options. A card can be "Drawn" from the deck by a Player, and it can be a random choice, or sequential, or they can see the whole deck and choose a card (this appears to match with where you said the players would choose from 15 forces). The card can be held in their "Hand" and then can be dropped onto the game table where it becomes a Token which has ownership by the Player who drew that card. Your hand of held cards sticks with your name at the bottom of the screen, so it could be considered like an access/storage as you mentioned, but held in the interface display rather than on the actual map in the margins. Thanks Gold, I am actually using the cards already. It is part of the resource distribution that changes as the player discovers new locations. Thanks Patrick, do I need a special account to enable these tokens in the journal? I have assigned multiple tokens to the character, given the character to myself and logged back in as a player but I never see the icons in the journal.

Default token are never seen on the sheet usually. You would have to open the journal then enter the edit mode (click on edit button on journal). On the left side there is a space labeled default token. I would be pointing you to wiki pages but I'm using my phone at the moment. Roll20 wiki link can be found on the left side of the drop down menu when you hover over the word community at the top of the page. In there you will find lots of information about linking tokens to journals, rollable tables, and much more.

They won't be seen as tokens, but as characters, which will be visible to anyone who the character is set for "in journals" can see the character in their journal, and anyone on the "can be controlled by" can place them. If you want it to show a preview image in the journal, you can also set the avatar for the same image (note avatar does not create a token, only an image for the journal, even if you set an avatar, you still need to at least once put the token onto a map, and click "use selected token" on the character page. and yeah, Pat and Aaron mentioned the wiki page of the end result of that.
There are about 15 tokens that carry 1 or more ships within. And you cannot have more than one of the same token on the board. As a character, I can accidentally drag more than one of the token onto the board. Lots of good ideas though. Thanks.

Okay, so, I set up tokens for each of the 4 players. 16 tokens each, 4 folders to group them all. Each token appears as a character. So, now I am thinking of using dynamic lighting and getting a better account. Do I actually have to remake each default token in each character? Also, if I want to change the permissions on the default tokens, it looks like I will have to manually do each one over again. Once the default token is added to the character you do not seem to be able to edit that token anymore. Does that sound right or am I missing a step in managing character default tokens. Secondary thing, I noticed that the tint of the default token is not shown when set as a default token. I think that is a bug. When I drag the token to the map the original tint does seem to appear.
Argh, the API seems to make that read only. That is too bad, it would have been a great way to setup a game to specific players. Currently I will have to set the ownership of the default tokens to All players to avoid having to re-enter each one for each new game. I can still set the character permissions, just not for the attached default token. That would have been nice to enable dynamic lighting on the tokens that got more powerful as the tech level improved (scifi board game), and to lock the viewable area to only the player doing the exploring.

The best you could probably achieve currently is to change the settings on the created token with an event.
Thanks I will check into that, maybe a script to set the permission of the placed token to the user who created it.
Hmm, I think within the token, I can set it to represent a character... which then makes it commanded by whomever owns the character. That might do it.
