Looking to learn and find new friends

As the title says, I am completely new to RPG's apart from the video gaming based versions. I am not sure where to start to I guess I will introduce myself. My name is Marc, I am 31, married with 2 kids and live in the UK. I have always been interested in video games and still enjoy them to this day. Over the years, I have found myself turning away from video games as I believe online gaming is destroying the social aspect of gaming with friends. I am feeling a massive void from online gaming but found new ways to fill it. I have started playing Warhammer at my local Games Workshop but as I only play Age of Sigmar atm, nobody really plays it there. Anyway to sum it all up, I have been looking for local players in my area to maybe start at game night for table tops but I live in a small town with not a lot of places to buy or speak to people about gaming. So I stumbled across this site while looking for places to find local table top events and thought this would be the best place to start my new adventure into table top RPG's. I am completely new to table tops apart from the usual board games and some warhammer, and would need to have a few intro games so I can learn the rules. I am committed to giving this a good go and hope people on here can give me a helping hand to start my adventures. PS I am interested in D&D type games but will try others if they are a better place to start. -edit- Forgot to add times I can play, I can do any evening from 8pm UK onwards.
Welcome to Roll20 and to the hobby Marc. I think you'll find there's no lack of people happily willing to bring you into tabletop gaming. Now, because I live on the east coast of North America (Montreal), the time difference may be an issue, but just out of curiosity, what day(s) and times work best for you?  Alex
Any day of the week is good for me. Any time after 8pm UK (-5 UTC) up to around midnight
Ok. I'll PM you my Skype info and maybe we can have a quick conversation about setting something up.
thanks for the replies. I think i need to find people who play during UK/EU times due to it being difficult to get on at the same time. Any advice anyone can give me would be great and taken on board.
Fair enough. Good luck and have fun.
Heya Marc!  I'm in the same boat as you: 30y/o married, long history of video game rpgs, but new to table top rpgs.  Maybe we can find a "newbies" game soon.

Hi. I'd be willing to run something noob friendly. I'm Shawn and older than both of you sadly. I've got flexible hours and have been doing this for a loooong time. If you are interested hit me up here
I would be very interested thanks. Like I said, I am free any evening. I do go away on holiday on 4th May for a week so I'm not AWOL
