Monster-ese

if a monster has speech capability, an API call for a the sound trigger is nice, i saw the sound trigger API post earlier..  Also, a way to give a text pre-emptive input for the DM to converse in monster-ese.   So, it would look like A deep gutteral voice in (deep speech) inside your head says,"Greetings, mortal." It would be achieved by Monster token selected, Speech Macro Button (per specific monster), and a pop up window asks for what the text is the DM wants to say to a player(s).  In this case 'Greetings Mortal'.  as the players converse, the DM can continue to converse in role by selecting the Macro button and typing into character chat(s).   Also, an option is to have a language filter.  If the language is a PC known one, it is flagged to send the text, if not, then it is flagged to garble the text.

Hi Valiance . Would this be a new feature for all of Roll20? Or would you be into making this work with the API (a pro user perk) since you have Pro subscription and mentioned API methods? If interested in API you might want to pose the same question in Roll20's API forum. Another question, in your idea, did you mean for the speech (example "Greetings mortal") to be audio &nbsp;or text in the chat? The part about the language filter (whether the PC knows that language or if not the text is garbled) is already existing as an API that uses a macro code with a text input box. It can garble the text for Players who don't have the language. Here is one API script that does that part,&nbsp; <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Script:Languages" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Script:Languages</a> Thanks for your suggestions.

I thought of a way to do macros from the character sheet that may allow me to achieve the goal I am after. &nbsp;yet, I have not implemented it. &nbsp;(API as a Pro member first, then as a R20 feature if it is popular) As far as text or speech, a speech generator bot would be nifty, but at the time I was thinking just a way to easily chat to players in role.(text) Thank you for the part on the language filter, that is something I will try using with existing tech to see if I can build what I am after. &nbsp; (My programming/scripting FU is pretty weak tho.) &nbsp;I would not be offended if someone with better skills were to run with this idea.

Be sure to ask on the API sub-forum as well. Someone will answer about what script is available now, and if you are making your own there can be help with any questions.
Thank you again
