Using Roll20 Face-to-Face Continued

I started experimenting with Roll20 last night as I prepare to use it for projecting maps onto the table for use with actual minis.  I've read through all the relevant forum posts here, and I'm stuck with some questions.  With the option of the single laptop running two instances of roll20 (1 player, 1 GM), is this as simple as just opening a second tab? Also, in this use case, is there any way to keep the players from seeing the GM tab when he switches to his tab to reveal the fog of war? Also, has anyone used an Apple TV connected to the projector to provide the player view? (for the option of using two separate computers? Finally, does the iPad app allow players to view the virtual table top, or just their character sheets?

I would suggest using a different instance of the browser, such as having the players logged in via Incognito in Chrome.  I've used this technique many times.  When I am projecting, I use the projector as a separate monitor so that the player view is always there and the GM view is on my laptop screen.

I've used the Apple TV and also a ChromeCast, as well as just having an HDMI cable run to the TV. The iPad app does not provide the Virtual Table Top, just dice rolling, chat, and character sheets/handouts.

The app at the moment is super unuseable and more like a first technical test. I use a second screen just like aaron. The app is good enough if you just want to use the diceroller for some basic dice rolls but everything that goes far beyound that will be a pain in the ass. However disclaimer: I have not tested the very latest app update yet.
OK. Experimentation continues and I think Roll20 is going to be awesome for us. Screen-sharing with the projector, putting the player instance on the projector looks like it will work fine. Plus, I can log in to a Roll20 map via the iPad browser and that works nicely enough for letting players move their icons without screwing up the projected map with the live minis. I still have a few questions. Since i have one instance for all the players, it makes sense that the dynamic lighting shows the combined lighting for the whole group. However, I understand that by clicking ctr-L, I should be able to limit the lighting to one token at a time. This works for me when I'm logged in as a GM, but not when I'm logged in as a player, and it looks like it is supposed to . Is this a bug?

The Ctrl-L is a GM feature because it is to help the GM see what the player would see for their token without requiring the GM to log out then back in as a player. This GM feature was a much requested feature a few years ago and it helps many GM's with their prep without needing two tabs or browsers open at the same time. I faintly remember it being player accessible a long time ago.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. Any chance of making it player accessible again? Even better, (IMHO), have the LOS automatically Ctr-L for the player when the character token is selected/in focus...

Your best chance would be to skim through the  Suggestions & Ideas forum and see if there is one already made. If not then you could write up and post one if you have a vote left. Please review our Forum Voting wiki page for more information on how voting works, and our Suggestions & Ideas Posting Guidelines for the added expectations above and beyond our standard Code of Conduct . A work around is to use the aura in conjuction with the token's DL so that even if the player is assigned more than one token, the player and GM can still tell what is in that tokens visible range. It works really well if you use 45 or 90 degrees, instead of the default 360, to limit the visual scope that a player can see with the token.

It's not so much the range that's valuable as it is the dynamic lighting as it relates to different senses. As a specific example, darkvision vs normal vision is so much more exciting and useful in D&D with dynamic lighting, whereas normally it would get hand-waved. I'll follow the recommendation for suggestions and ideas.
