LFG (PF) - Players Who'd Like to Be Part of a Band of Dwarves & a GM Who Loves Them...?

Hi there! Ever since I was a little kid and read The Hobbit, I've been a huge fan of dwarves. People say they don't trust others who don't like cats or dogs, but I really think love of the little bearded bastards should be the deciding factor. I've always wanted to be a part of a group made up of dwarves but have never had the good fortune to find one. Sooooo, I've decided to look for; 1) a group, or players who might want to form one, where others might want to play this kind of party, and 2) a GM who wouldn't mind having this sort of group roaming around, getting into mischief and looking for fabulous loot in his world. My schedule is pretty open (I'm on EST), I accept a GM's rules as gospel and I haven't gotten a chance to be a player in a long, long time. If any of this sounds fun to you please post here or drop me a PM. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Aye! I typically stay away from the fantasy genre, unless it has to do with dwarves! I won't even give a MMO a shot unless dwarf is a playable race. When I play Dwarf Fortress, I'm always coming up with stories to explain what the dwarves are doing. Why did they decide to start a fortress in this cursed snowy wasteland? Why are they building a 5th mead hall? What's with this new temple and what gods would a dwarf bother worshiping? These scenarios have lead to a list of ideas for a dwarf-focused tabletop campaign; maybe playing simple dwarven thieves, or perhaps miners discovering an inconceivable treasure horde, or dwarven paladins/priests sent to fortify a final bastion against an approaching undead army. I've been away from tabletop for quit a while (10+ years), but I just got into Savage Worlds and have been preparing to run an Interface Zero campaign. I wouldn't be opposed to running a dwarf-centric fantasy campaign though, as long as the players weren't rules lawyer nerds trying to step on my newness to the Savage Worlds system.
PS - Why is it your profile picture appears to be an elf? Heathen!
I'm already fully booked with games, but I salute you, fellow Dwarf! All-dwarf campaigns can be SO beast! <3
Wouldn't mind playing that type of game. Never have before but I think it could be fun. Only really know D&D play system so I'd need to learn whatever we use
Profile pic is Elric Kinslayer, the Prince of Ruins ;) It's about due to be changed, though. Been up awhile.
So are you thinking something more along the lines of dwarven treasure hunters and thieves?
Just to pile on the awesomeness of Dwarves, there is a 3rd party adventure path for Pathfinder called Throne of Night that follows either a group of drow (boo), or noble drunken dwarves (yay!) Through the underdark.
Wow! Lots of love for the bearded here. I kind of like the concept of dwarves who have been surface dwellers for awhile, maybe two generations, who want to see and/or reclaim territory or treasures that were once in dwarven hands. It allows them to be brave and stalwart but also gives them a bit of a naive persona.
Ah, so essentially a re-envisioning of the Lonely Mountain story.
It will depend on what the GM has in mind.

It's a pretty awesome AP (Same people who made Way of the Wicked I believe), I highly recommend it if Pathfinder is your thing.
I am super interested but pathfinder is not really my favorite system. I doubt I could convince you to want to go to 5e?
Thanks for the suggestion, Shawn. I'll take a look at it. James, I've never played 5e; am completely unacquainted with it, but might be coerced into trying it if we find a group and GM who work.

I like the dwarf PC's, there is at least 1 dwarf in each party that I play or DM, which is mostly AD&D 2nd edition. We haven't done a party of all dwarf yet, but we are currently running a party of almost all Thief, that has 1 dwarf and 1 gnome. I'm following this thread to see what comes together, time, game system, session dates, group membership and so on.
I have never understood why so many people prefer elves to Dwarves, when so many grew up on The Hobbit, first. The elves in there were either annoying or antagonists. But oh well. I would be all about playing or D. M.ing. I am mostly free, any weekday, after nine thirty pm, EDT. For games with Dwarves in them, I prefer Pathfinder, but I would be open to looking into other things. Also, this website has some cool classes, whether you care about Final Fantasy or not: http://www.finalfantasyd20.com/ffd20/
Well I am pretty stoked, my real life role play group were going to do a long term Dwarven RP but it just fell appart and we moved onto another game quickly. I have always missed what could have been of that campaign
Well I'm a GMT+0 player but I have to say, Dwarves are the best, loud, grumbly, greedy, drunken, angry, frequently Scottish, always bewhiskered menaces with a hatred of all things eleven and who's battle preparation is getting hammered the night before and then charging naked into battle because they're late to the punch-up and don't have time to don their armour and get to the fight. My mind is already racing with ideas and although it's unlikely that I'll get to join this game I'm going to have to see if I can get a Euro-friendly game of the same nature going on!
Truor, are you more interested in GMing or playing? I'd prefer a late Saturday afternoon or evening game, but like I said earlier my schedule is pretty open, so if we find a time that works for the majority I'll adapt.
I am up for D. M.ing or playing. If some other D. M. has some amazing inspiration for a story that they can't just keep to themselves, sheesh, I would be up for helping them to present their epic. If a bunch of Dwarf fans prefer a system that I am less familiar with, I would prefer to be a player. At the moment, though, I could D. M. a Pathfinder thingy, with or without that Final Fantasy stuff. Or a Fifth Edition thingy. I suppose. There are just a lot fewer options. Either way, I am thinking up some crazy plots. Dwarves Versus Dragons: The Dwarves already won. Your ancestors were awesome dragon slayers. Or they knew some nasssty sneaky hobbitses. However legitimately, they got their mitts on some dragon treasure. Unfortunately, it was of the slow-burning curse variety. Your families' reputations are plummeting, accidents are becoming more commonplace, and some stinking pansy elves just moved in, next door. All of these things could be seen as coincidences, if not for the fact that there have been calling cards mocking you, all of the time. Diplomacy with dragons is out of the question. Taking the treasure back, being forgiven, and walking away happily is not the Dwarven way. Investigation, crazy cursed items, people questioning your honor, and maybe...the knowledge that the true treasure was the Dwarves we met along the way. *sniff* Dwarf On Dwarf Action: Two Dwarvish countries have been at war, for forever. It is one of those wars that has just always existed. You might even have friends from the opposing country, as long as you're willing to meet in neutral territory. It is on a visit to some neutral territory that you uncover the root of the conflict. And how it is just a precursor to something that would endanger countries even outside of the Dwarvish ones. Not that non-Dwarvish countries matter, anyway. But the danger is greater than this old routine war, is the point. The elves are probably behind it. You know, because their pointy ears were sticking out. Political intrigue, way too much magic, one "The Chosen One", and maybe...true love? Dwarves Headbutting Valhalla: Dwarves are traditionally fairly Lawful Good, reliable, and religious sorts. But it isn't Chaotic, Evil, unexpected, or atheistic to be bitter, when your gods snub you. As happens in various myths, you were commissioned by some gods to make something. Either they were one of those fickle gods, or you were having an off day, but either way, you did not receive payment for services rendered. Worse yet, the gods are starting to shop around. You could sabotage your competitors or try to improve your craftsmanship, but you would prefer stubbornness. That commissioned Shiv Of Healing is awesome, and you will prove it! Grandstanding, combat, people calling you crazy, and maybe...immortality.
Any room at the table for a dwarven wench? Would love to join a merry band of axe swinging, bearded, ale swilling brutes just lookin for a good time! I'm open to any system, and available weeknights for a couple hours after 11pm MDT or weekends, Friday after 11pm MDT, Sunday after 8pm MDT. I am a serious long term player with lots of history in ttrpg. New to D20, but a fast learner! Played lots of pathfinder, savage worlds, D&D. Who doesn't love a surly dwarf! I'm open to type or chat. Love the Final Fantasy link Truor and your really on to something there with the Valhalla scheme.
Sounds like a great game to play truor. If you want to set it up I'd be happy to join
I like the Valhalla theme, too, Truor. It reminds me a bit of the story in Glen Cook's Instrumentalities of the Night series. I'm in.
Depending on the time and day, I might be interested. Fair note: I don't do slapstick or "comic relief" dwarves. In fact, I tend to be a rather serious roleplayer, with quite a bit of emphasis on the psychological development of characters. Of the three proposals by Truor, the "dwarf on dwarf" one sounds best to me. Probably best to figure out our timeslot first, since that will likely crystallize who can actually make it dramatically.
I'm with Patrick on this one, if I can make this game, I definitely am going to join if it's at all an option, the only thing I need to know is if it's actually a possibility to make it or not, I'm free most days except Sunday (Monday looks difficult but not entirely out of the question depending on how things go) and as I said, I'm a GMT+0 player, so that makes timing a bit more awkward for me if most are operating on EST or PDT (forgive me if I got those wrong, I'm not overly familiar with American time zones). Also, in regards to Truor, I'd have to say I'm leaning towards Dwarf on Dwarf or Dwarves Headbutting Valhalla, admittedly I'm the kind of crazy sort who'd probably wind up trying to rebel against the gods so Dwarf on Dwarf is probably the best choice, plus you pitched it in a very interesting way and what can I say, I love being the chosen one's barbarian friend.
Availabilities: Monday through Friday evenings, after nine thirty pm EDT (four hours behind GMT). I generally keep sessions between three and five hours, but I could try to keep thing shorter, if that would assist. As for tones, I definitely lean towards light-hearted, which those plot ideas should have indicated. But I have twenty-seven thousand crazy N. P. C.'s in my pockets, so there will be a variety of personalities to interact with. I like to keep a good balance of role-playing, combat, and puzzles of various sorts to solve. I go for broad strokes, ambience before delicate touches. When it comes to the rules, I am the sort to make something up on the fly, rather than slow things down by looking something up. If we find that we did things wrong, later, we are not going back to maybe get a better roll, but we can keep the actual rule in mind, for if it comes up again. I would not be doing a first come, first served thing. Toss me a private message with your Skype name, and we can see how well we work together. And unless someone wants to take these reins, I'll start coming up with some Dwarves Headbutting Valhalla stuff. Pathfinder, unless a bunch of people prefer the Fifth Edition.
I applaud Truor for stepping up tot he plate in getting this rolling, but I suspect that his preferences don't line up with mine, so I will bow out. Good luck, though! Dwarfs are still awesome. :)
Well, variety is a spicy thing. While I typed that I lean towards light-heartedness, I would not want a game full of over-the-top and silly Dwarves, only caring about drinking and fighting and such. I expect intriguing backstories with characters and plot hooks for me to add. But either way, here is a thingy ---> https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/1381305/dwarves-headbutting-valhalla

Truor T., Only Plus and Pro subscribers can make their games visible to the public ; by default a link such as https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/1234567/s ... is only visible to players already in the game. The best way to handle this situation is to create a Looking for Group listing ; even if you do not enable it for viewing in the LFG Directory you can share the link with others and have a separate Listing Discussion forum just for those potentially interested in your game. As a bonus, anyone who posts to your game's Listing Discussion forum will have a big blue button by their username and all a GM has to is click 'Invite to Game' and an invitation will be sent their way. I hope this helps, happy gaming! :)
Well, the thingy says that it is being listed. But then, it also says that it can take a couple of hours. Here is a hopefully better link ---> https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/45799/dwarves-headbutting-valhalla
It's working fine now, Truor. Come on dwarf lovers, get in on this with us. You know you want to.
