Can we limit how manz times someone can drag a character onto a map?

I like the idea of having tokens / characters with journals but I do not like the possibility of dragging multiple copies of the character onto the map (for a board game, not RPG). Is there any way to limit how many times a player can drag their characters onto the map (to avoid duplicates)?
Not that I know of without the use of the API, a pro feature. There may be a way to stop duplicates using an API scirpt.
As Ed said, not without an api script.

But now with one click install of pre-written scripts, you just need to get a pro user to publish the script you need.
Thanks for the thoughts. I will take a look at the API and check out the one-click install thing.
