Oh wow lol, totally forgot a bunch of info in the OP. Prolly shouldn't post a few minutes before work heh. OK so the system would be 5e D&D we would be using Skype for the voice part, would be mainly theatre of the mind but would always feature pics to add to the atmosphere and on the rare occasion an actual battle map when it would make things easier. As for those that would need to know about the setting before making a character that is cool. You can either submit a char you like asan example or just post why this game interests you and why you would be a great pick. I know that last part seems convoluted but I like to keep options open. Once the group was selected we would have a primer session where we discuss what kind of game/setting the group wants, what they don't like in games, and just a general meet and greet. Now as for the RP aspect, I like to include stuff from the characters back stories as much as possible while working with the players to create great stories. I tend to run games that are a mix of sandbox and not. That is I introduce plothooks to the players but whether they take them and how they act is never set in stone. I've literally had groups bribe the percieved enemies and thus alter the tone of the game.
