What is there an interest for?

I currently trying to get a CthulhuTech game going on this site (which I have wanted to run since I first got the books). Though my schedule is clear enough for me to have a second game on this site. Though what would get the most attention and dedicated players? I have the following games, the ones with stars are ones I have the most interest in running though I can run any of them... DnD 2e DnD 3.5e DnD 4e Star Wars Revised Star Wars Saga Ed cWoD (VtM, MtA, WtA, CtD, KotE, KotEK, HtR, WtO) nWoD (VtR, MtA, WtF, CtL, PtC, GtSE, HtV) Weapons of Gods Legends of the Wulin Legend of the Five Rings 4e Shadowrun 4e Exalted Iron Kingdoms (3.e rules) Babylon 5 (d20 rules) Blue Planet v2* Corporation Eclipse Phase Ashen Stars* The Dresden Files Airship Pirates Rifts* Splicers* Pokemon Tabletop Adventures
Oh I forgot to say when! It would be a game every Wednesday any time in the evening since I have off Thursday. No earlier though than 6pm Eastern time (GMT -5)
I'd like to try NWoD
Shadowrun 4, Eclipse Phase Blue Planet v2 would be all awesome! NWoD is great but depends on which one and where will be the game (which city and time period). D&D 3e and 4e are greatly depend on the setting too: I would love to play Dark Sun (even in 4e), Planescape, something Underdark, Dragonlance, might be Ebberon too.
4e... They would be on a skiff like sand ship trying to survive in the deserts of Athas. Part of a band that discovered the sand ship and took to raiding villages and smaller settlements while getting away relatively quickly. While battling the forces of the Sorcerer-Kings out in the open deserts. Always moving for the things that dwell in the deepest reaches are the stuff of nightmares and legends. nWoD... I have ideas for either WtF, CtL or Geist would be the three that I would want the most. Blue Planet v2 is just so much fun, it provokes the inner science girl in me. They would be probably either "natives" to Poseidon or those deep cover eco-terrorists trying to keep the planet pure and not become a second Earth. A lot of corporate espionage and more science related stories as they strive for a way to combat the corporations. Shadowrun 4e... they are working for one of the corporations and are given access to some gear to infiltrate Tokyo, for the US corporations fear they have developed some new weapon that will tip the scales of balance. Going across the Pacific Ocean via zeppelin and then they are dropped off via mini-sub to breach Tokyo via the sewer system to met with their contact and get access to their safe house. From there it will be up to them as they occasionally receive instruction from their corporate handler.
I am actually beating around some ideas for Rifts, including a one shot game to see if i love it as much as i used too. I used to play that while every one else was playing DnD. And you will find plenty of people for l5r , there a game that just lost its storyteller. ...nWod i would like to play werewolf. Shadowrun 4e is always fun too. I am availible weds for now.
Personal preference: Exalted > Dresden FIles> L5R > cWoD > SW Saga > Blue Planet > Shadowrun > Corporation >PTA > nWoD's MtA
I like Annan's format....here is mine as of now, now i have been known to have gamer ADD,... Rifts/Splicers(Weird but FUN!!!)>oWoD(W:ta, V:tm, possibly M:ta)>L5R(previous card game fanboy lol)>Shadowrun 4e>DnD 3.5 Forgotten Realms(My secret fantasy, lol)
3.5usa est
Hehe so perhaps we should narrow this down then to make things easier... Blue Planet v2 Shadowrun 4e Splicers**/Rifts Exalted DnD 3.5e or 4e
Good list ;p Rifts/Splicers>DnD 3.5 (Prefer Forgotten Realms) > Shadowrun 4e>Exalted(Only played once)> Blue Planet V2(Never heard of)
Blue Planet is such an awesome little game. If you like science you should look it up.
Blue Planet is amazing game! One of the "transhumanist" game (like Eclipse Phase, Transhuman Space, I would say Trinity too), but with a great love of ecology and oceans, and Jacques Cousteau! I would really love to try the setting! Stonefur, look for the game, it is worthy to check it!
Legends of the Wulin sounds interesting. Vampire: the Masquerade and Shadowrun, also. Rifts might be fun if you don't try and take it seriously.
Ok, my preference list then: Blue Planet v2 = Dark Sun (be it 3e or 4e) (Ocean planet vs Desert planet? Hard call!) ===> Shadowrun 4 (I like the concept you had there Hanako :) ) ===> Exalted = Rifts (I have equally less interest in these two)
I played Aberrant and Trinity - And 3.5e Dark Sun would be awesome!!! Shadowrun 4e is very interesting as well. Nice lead in on that one, and I always wanted to play a Menehune Dwarf. I am intrigued. Rifts can be very good game if it is set up correctly and you understand what the reasonable power curve is. I am thinking about running a Rifts game myself, so we can take that off my list here...Shadowrun 4e is ALWAYS fun...
Dark Sun setting is awesome be it in 2e, 3.5e or 4e (except the new races there, some are so unnecessary). Shadowrun could be always awesome, especially that roll20 give a chance to tactical maps. Rifts... well... I played for a while and I was even a storyteller at times. I like a few concepts there: like the Coalition issue, but generally I think it is a very problematic setting and game system. Though it can be done right that is true.
Its all about scope and I usually ditch the whole "Canon" CS meta-plot, and make sure the Vampire Kingdoms are realized for the threat they really represent. It needs to be kept on a reasonable scale but is capable of some truly anime-esque SCI-Fantasy games.
If it came down to rifts or splicers then I would probably choose Splicers since it is a bit more manageable in both scope and scale. Coming between the editions of DnD I would lean more towards 4th. Getting into either Shadowrun or Blue Planet v2 could be very fun. If we went with Exalted it would be Alchemicals hands down.
Honestly man it seems you should nail down the one you would like to run most. Its a good chance you can find players for it.
I like them all really to the point were it could go either way so that is why I posted this thread to see what others found most interesting.
Oh man, Eclipse Phase would be great to play. But I generally prefer the more narrative then hard mechanic games. That is to say ST > D20. I didn't hear particularly good things about 4e as a 3.5e player. The only other thing on your cut down list I have read about is Exalted.
I like them all really to the point were it could go either way so that is why I posted this thread to see what others found most interesting.
I played 3.5 so many times and I have never run 4e, so before I pass final judgement on it I wanted to see if it was actually any good. That would be the only reason I would play 4e over 3.5. Is there something we can narrow it down to further? My final choices would be Blue Planet v2, Shadowrun 4e or Splicers. Though I really do like them all enough to run any of them >.>
I have no idea what the Blue Planet system looks like, but Splicers seems to be Palladium rules, which range from unplayable to completely gonzo. Shadowrun is probably the best of those three mechanically.
Blue Planet is one of my personal favorites even though I have never run it before I own every book. Just it clicks with the inner science geek. When adventures are based around collecting samples and surviving a deadly environment that likes to devour the unwary!
Blue Planet does not really seem like it would be up my alley. I don't know, i just skimmed over it, but I probably would pass on that. I much prefer a scoped Rifts game to Splicers. Skraypers or Wormwood even. I am biased and think The Rifts / Palladium Rules can be clunky, but really no more so than AD&D. It is a very, very dated system, and if you keep the sourcebooks to a minimum as far as what the players can have for toys and then its just like AD&D as far as keeping up with balance.
That is why I would lean towards Splicers, it is just a single book nothing more to it. As I said I like any of them. So it has come down to... Shadowrun 4e DnD 4e Exalted Truly though if someone just wants to choose one of them that is more than fine with me :D
Shadowrun 4e? Its the most approachable of the three listed. I like 3.5 and seems like 4e DnD was an attempt to sell mini-figs at Books-A-Million. I never had much exposure to Exalted, so I am in the dark there.
Exalted can be like DnD using the d10 system. I would want to run an Alchemical Exalted that starts inside Autochthonia before entering Creation proper. I will provide a sample of one of my posts I made for another game... Interfacing with the controls of the lift. Massive gears began to move and the essence surge could be felt as those large gears pulled back the locks. And then they fell. They had the impression of falling but no ability to tell that was actually happening. It was like being in a place that did not exist. Off in the distance weapons, armor and more surreal artifacts glittered like stars against an eternal darkness. But in that darkness the outer hull of the Maker defied perception. Essence towers crackled along it. Gorges that could fit an entire Creation direction. Weapons that made the Hymn of Final Judgement look like a flamewand. A great iris opened and they passed through the shell and layers of the Great Maker. Tremendous speed now that they had something to compare it against. They continued to fall until the city came into view from the great dome above it. In the center was a massive Alchemical hundreds of feet tall. Three large rings connected to the Alchemical and the rest of the city spread out beneath it. Passing within the ring the great arms of the alchemical where out and the platform stopped suddenly but with no adverse effects to them. With the platform in place it looked as if the Alchemical was praying "We have arrived. The Patropolis of Ot"
Exalted is a bit like oWoD/nWoD. It shares a system with Scion (if I remember correctly). It has a somewhat large story base. So it might be challenging to get into. DnD 4e was marketed towards WoW players mostly, alienating a lot of the current base at the time, and it wasn't even really popular with the same people it was targeted towards (since they would rather just go play WoW, go figure). I think Shadowrun 4e could have a go.
Chase, there is a huge advantage of DnD 4e over DnD 3.5, it is a tidy bit more simple to keep the monster statistic in mind for a DM, and that is something in high level. Dark Sun in 4e is decent enough, though I would rather play Dark Sun in Savage World or Gurps, but still seems playable enough. From the three Hanako I would say Blue Planet for myself, but probably Shadowrun would be more popular.
So far it seems Shadowrun is coming out on top. Though I will have to keep Blue Planet close at hand because I really do want to run it some day.
If you decide so give me a call! I would love to play that game!
Then Shadowrun 4e will do!
With the Tokyo setting? ;)
Please let me know, I would like to give Shadowrun 4e a try.
Yes with the Tokyo setting.
Should I close this thread and open one for Shadowrun 4e?
You might want to do that, but expect a huge interest :).
Of course all of you would get first dibs!
Not to hijack you, but if anyone was/is interested in Rifts, i am working on such a game right now. If you are new to it and want to find out if you like it, I will run a one-shot, that is capable of going into a recurring game if enough people like it. I will use pre-gen characters as Rifts creation can be...taxing...if you are new to it....there is an active thread on the game in lfg, and i have 4 pre-gen backgrounds up if you are interested. It is a really neat setting with ALOT of flexibility. If you want to play something crazy, it is out there.
