How does the character vault work?

So I am not a plus or pro member but I would like to get a more detailed look at the character vault. I have a DM for D&D 5e that uses the community contributed sheet, this means I cannot drag and drop spells and I have to re-enter them on each new character sheet. In the character vault does it put copies of the characters into different games, so I could maybe make a druid and input all the druid spells only once and then copy that sheet into a game and input the stats etc. but it would not change the original sheets. Also, if I am a player can I have an API script in someone else's game?

You can save any character you have edit permissions to into the vault. It creates a copy of the character, so if for example you save the character to the vault, then level up and save it to the vault again, you'll have one copy at level N and another copy at level N+1. You can import any character from your vault into any game you create. You can import any character from your vault into a game you join if the GM of that game permits Vault imports . (This is a setting in the campaign. If the GM doesn't set it, the system won't let you import the character.) If the game the character is imported into is using a character sheet, and the imported character has the appropriate attributes (most likely due to being saved from a game using the same sheet), they will show up on the character sheet appropriately. You will not  have edit permission for an imported character until the GM gives it to you.

Nicolas K. said:  Also, if I am a player can I have an API script in someone else's game? Since Brian covered the vault pretty well I will answer this quickly. The basic answer is No. The long answer is the  API is based upon the original game creators membership not his players.
Thank you both.
