8 May 2016 It's time to suspend this thread. I've already received more responses than I expected to get. Thanks for taking the time to check it out, and if you were looking for a game, I wish you luck in finding one. But if you want to establish comms in case a space around the table opens up, feel free to use this thread to say hello! ------------------------------------------------------------------ That title probably sounds creepy. Let me explain. I'm a guy. All my life my RPG groups have been exclusively guys. And honestly, I was okay with that, because instead of having a guys' night out every few weeks we would have guys' night in around the virtual tabletop. And it was always fun so the lack of gender diversity never bothered me. Then I started watching some Youtube RPG series in which women participated--shows like Critical Role and Titansgrave among others--and I realized what our gaming group was missing: gender diversity and female perspective. As a guy I can usually anticipate how other guys will think and act. When I watch those shows, a lot of things the women do surprises me. And frankly that's refreshing, so I'd like to find 1-2 female players who are interested in giving it a try. So if you're a woman and you've read this far, hopefully I've convinced you that the title is not quite as creepy as it sounds. If you're interested, here are the details about me, my group, and our game. I am the GM for a home brew Fantasy AGE campaign that is just beginning. Our core group consists of about 5 guys who have been gaming together online for over a decade, plus a few others who have participated in our RPG sessions for several years. All have lots of RPG experience with D&D, Shadowrun, etc., but lately most of our games have used Pathfinder. This is our first time using Fantasy AGE, which I insisted we try because I found PF way too bloated with rules. After watching Titansgrave I longed to go back to a simple system that didn't try to have a rule for every possible character path and game event, and which was geared more toward flexibility to encourage players to get more into role-play and story. So that's the goal of my campaign, to go back to an "old school" way of playing, with more emphasis on the "theater of the mind" to create a more narrative/cinematic experience. Our group consists entirely of guys over 30, most of whom are married with kids, and all are mature players. Ideally, we would prefer those interested to fit similar criteria, but if someone younger (20's) were interested I wouldn't turn her away simply due to age. The bottom line is, if someone is comfortable enough to try joining us, then I don't want to make age an issue. But we are mature as people and players, so maturity is important. We usually play twice a month on Friday nights at 9 P.M., EST, with sessions lasting 3-4 hours. I usually try to end sessions between significant campaign events to allow for characters to come and go without interrupting the story. This makes it easier to explain the absence of a character if a player has to miss a session, and missing sessions will not get you booted from the group. We all have jobs and life events that occasionally get in the way. So that's my pitch. This is my first time making a post like this, so I have no idea what to expect in response. If you are a mature female gamer who's looking for a group and willing to play Fantasy AGE, let me know and we can arrange a virtual meeting to discuss. Jason
