Looking to start Dark Heresy Beginner's campaign. GMT Weekends. I'll GM.

Hi All, I'm sure you've noticed, but the Roll20 forums seem to have a lots of new players looking to get into Dark Heresy games. I'm going to assume a lot of them (like me) were drawn to the game after seeing a certain popular webshow. The Problem is, as new players, no one has the experience (or confidence) to GM and more experienced GMs for this particular game seem to be incredibly rare. The result is the vast majority of the guys looking for Dark Heresy games have no chance of actually playing unless they switch to another system. That would be a sensible thing to do, but I want to play some 40k dammit! So I've decided to start a beginner's campaign. I'll GM one of the introductory adventures (probably Edge of Darkness, don't google it though 'cus spoilers) with 4 other new players. I've never GM'd before, so it may be a little shaky, but I think getting 5 total greenhorns together (instead of a mixed group) might be a good way to learn Dark Heresy and RP in general together. At least it's better than not playing at all, and hopefully it will take the pressure off a bit not having to worry about holding more experienced players back. Anyway, onto the details: Player Requirements I'm looking for players who are relatively or completely new to RP. If you aren't new you're going to have to accept you'll be playing with people much less experienced than you. Preferably have a microphone and be willing to talk. Time I'm based in GMT and can only realistically play weekends, which I assume is the case for a lot of people. Was thinking a 3 - 5 hour session that starts either Mid-day or Evening Saturday or Mid-day Sunday. How to Apply If you're interested just post below with your timezone, when you can play (in GMT because I'm lazy and stupid), Mic/No Mic and how much RP experience you have. Hopefully if we have players sorted out before the weekend we'll do character generation and sort out some other logistics this weekend (14th/15th) then our first session will be the following weekend (21st/22nd).

Hey, sounds fun. I just had my first Pathfinder game this Sunday and since then have been looking to play more tabletop games! I also got started through Rollplay and must say Dark Heresy seemd at least as intrigueing as the standard fantasy/DnD setting. Im GMT+2 and got time on Saturdays - usually all day it's just this weekend I have to attend a birthdayparty, so I probably cant join before ~6-7 GMT. I do have a Mic and would definitly prefere playing with it! Also I'd like to apply with my buddy (buster w.) who should post shortly.
Hi I might be interested. I'm GMT-2 A little hard to tell the exact time I would be able to play, I have a Pathfinder session in the weekends and I'm about to start a Dark Heresy session too, but I should be do able to play depending on what time you would start it. I got a working Mic, and my RP experience is low, with only 2 sessions of pathfinder and a little D&D 3.5 a few years ago. R.

Aaaw yeah, I am interested in playing a Dark Heresy game. I have started my own campaign on sundays due to a draught of it here on Roll20. I was a bit too eager to play since Roleplay Dark Heresy looked incrediblely awesome. I am a comeplete newbie with roleplays so this will be my second campaign ever. I can play Saturday afternoon or Mon - Thu from 6:30 GMT +1. Cant play every Saturday evening due to my College job which is supporting me untill i get a real one.
I would be very interested in your dark heresy campaign. I'm a moderately experienced Roleplayer, but have little to no experience with dark heresy. I run on Kansas time, and im not sure how that matches up to your times. Im free most any day especially the weekends. I do have a mic. Cheers!
I'm extremely interested in DH campaign, I've been wanting to play this game for a looooong time. I've been roleplaying for a couple of months, but I'd still call myself a newbie. I'm in GMT+2, the weekends fit me quite nicely and I have a working mic(though it would be best if I were to finally get rid of my old thing and get a better set)

I would like to join, I was part of the previous game we were in and have my character sheet ready. Im gmt no mic would be best but I do have one, saturday sounds good to me.
Hey, just like my buddy Sui Z. I have played my first Pathfinder game last Sunday, after watching lots of Rollplay. That's where I've seen a few episodes of Dark Heresy and I'm very willing to dive into it. Saturday would be best, Sunday if the times don't interfere with our Pathfinder game (that'd probably mean starting time around 20:00). Working Mic and no shitty quality ;)

GMT + 1:00 I would love to join this campaign as I am what you would call a "Greenhorn" and would like to get into Dark Heresy. What drew me here was the DH podcast, ever since I saw it I've been wanting to get into role playing in this format. I am free at any time.
Hey I have always wanted to try the 40k games but never had a group to do so. I'm not new to Rp but I'm super new to the 40k games but ether way i wouldn't mind playing with new players. I can play anytime Sunday. I also have a mic and I don't mind talking at all. Would love to give Dark Heresy a shot =p

I would love to join after watching this "certain webshow" ;-) . It would be great to play with new and inexperienced people and learn the game together. I am very new to roleplay games like this but i think i have a talent for immersing myself into my character. I have both the first ed. rulebook and the second ed. beta rulebook. I absolutely adore the 40k universe, i have read almost every novel about it and played every PC game. Im 21 years old ,have a microphone, fluent english, mature. Personally id love to play Sunday Noon/Afternoon/Evening. Im also free for Saturday afternoon until early evening (need to go to work at 8 PM gmt on fridays and saturdays) I am completely free from Sunday Noon - Friday early evening.

First, what web-show are you all referring to? Second, I am an experienced Dark Heresy Player. I have also GMed Rogue Trader, which is like dark Heresy with a different focus for story line. Based more on exploration than investigation. I have also played Death Watch (SPACE MARINES BITCHES!!!) and Black Crusade (I DO THIS FOR CHAOS!!). Have not yet had a group to play Only War (Playing soldiers in the imperial guard.) I've been following Fantasy Flights and Dark Heresy Since it was released. Bought a first copy at GenCon for Rogue Trader. I am a huge fan of 40k as well, and I play table top version as the Chaos space marines. (You got questions about Chaos? I have answers.) I am more than willing to play with newbies and I can keep my opinions to myself until asked for it on rules. Third, best time for me to play out of the two days offered is Sunday any time all day. Regardless of time zone. Friday is also free for me. All day. Regardless of time zone. Saturday I play other games.
If I'm not mistaken, the show everyone is talking about is the RollPlay Dark Heresy campaign, which can be found on Youtube. Here's the first episode if anyone is interested in checking it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTTSfN8wpsE&list=PL-oTJHKXHicSxBj2DMq_zmJ0QALrhKzVg&index=1
Nice to see there's some interest guys. I will try and sort out invites either today or tomorrow.

Hi! I'd like to apply as well. My time is GMT +4 (Russia). I'd be able to play on Sunday evenings, so something like 3PM GMT would be nice. I have a total of about 50 hours of roleplaying experience, 15 of which would be with Dark Heresy (our GM did 4 sessions and disappeared). I do have a mic. I'd prefer to play a TechPriest and not to play a Psyker (I've played Psyker before, they are fun).

Gah, looks like there's more than enough players here to chose from. If any other GM's are going to be forming a game though, please let me know! I'm GMT -5 (East coast time zone) and have interest in playing a Tech Priest.
Wouldnt mind giving an Arbitator a try. If another DM is keen ^_^
Oh yeah, forgot to mention I have mic and camera as needed.
Hi, I'm GMT, I have a mic and I have read a bit of the dark heresy books, meaning I know somethings but never put them to use.
My God! There are so many of us! And still more are coming!
Łukasz H. said: My God! There are so many of us! And still more are coming! Yeah, this is what happens in EVERY Dark Heresy thread. It's why I decided to take a shot a GMing.
You can say there is a drought of Gamemasters and groups :S
If this keeps up, we might as well play Only War. Why roleplay a squad when you can play as a whole field army :)
This seems fairly well filled with.... a lot of people to be simple about the fact. I'd be willing to give it a shot. I'm not too new to RPing, and I do have a mic. But I only know a few things about Dark Heresy, but as many people have stated a particular webshow was very interesting to watch. I'm only an hour ahead of you in CST. My scedual is rather fluid with work and other such things, but if this takes off I have no problem carving a little chunk of time out to insure I'm here to play some.

Hi, im an experienced enough GM. I'd be willing to GM a one shot on a rotational basis with you. What i like to call a six shooter. That is; the GMing responsibility is spread between several people who occasionally GM a single session and then rotate back to a player while others GM until his tern. It could be even more awesome than that as each session is a collection of random encounters but the over arching plot is kept vague or hints are made based on what the rotated GM believes the overarching plot of the other GM is. Or perhaps just one episode as in some kind of "X files - Heresy Files" method with a "season finale". This could work! I will say i dont have a very high opinion of Only War as a game. DH 1ed is one we'll all know and in my opinion the best way to start any player off. Before OW we just used to play all guardsmen games of DH and that worked out better. Plus DH has an expansion called Ascension which none of the other books really have. So to be clear; ill GM a session every 4-5 or so sessions on the condition that i get to be a player the rest of the time. GMT+1 Weekends Fridays
The idea of a rotating GM would be awesome. As i said in my earlier post i have no experience, but i think i might be a decent GM myself once i got a good grasp of the rules and learned from other GMs. I really hope i can finally play this.
Invites have been sent out guys. Sorry if you didn't get one but I had so many people wanting to play I had to get a little ruthless. Temper T. said: Lewis W. said: So I've decided to start a beginner's campaign. If you want to start your own campaign though I'm sure you would be immediatly smothered with offers :)
Well ok. I havent played edge of darkness so i'd like to play. This is 1ed (best ed) right?
Are there any DM's in here looking to start something more permanent for mixed new an experienced players?
id love to join
2nd ed of Dark Heresy hasn't come out yet. To Shawn, I am more interested in playing than GMing atm. BUt if you find a GM and players, let me know.
Actually got into a game yesterday, so no longer looking.

Interested when i saw the intro. Completely new to all of this and have been waiting forever to experience a Dark Heresy campaign.

Actually it IS out in Beta, I believe that's what the Rollplay guys are actually playing... Which does beg the Question, are you doing the 2.0 Beta or the Original?
I don't believe they would use the beta for a program like that. Aside from that I believe they mentioned throne gelts and 2.0 doesn't use money if I'm not mistaken. It uses an influence score. As for whether or not it's better than the original, that remains to be seen. I'm not going to pay $20 for a beta copy just to compare notes. I think it's also safe to assume this game is 1st ed since he's using edge of darkness. Which is 1st ed.
Is this still open to players? I'm looking and certainly interested in trying out Dark Heresy.
