Wednesday Night Star Wars RPG Saga Edition, 4:30PM-9PM PST (11:30PM-4AM GMT) Game Closed

Thanks for playing everyone! I had a lot of fun on Wednesday with you. But I'm ending this game to free up Wednesday night for another game. Something not based on the d20 system. I'm not sure what that will be yet. Maybe one of the White Wolf games or something.

Hi Aary, I have submitted a request to join. Here's an array of characters I would love to play and I'm able to modify to match your specifications. When looking at the characters please realize their backgrounds are for varied eras but the specific details relating to that can be changed. Please just take a look at the nuts and bolts of who the character is. Adalyn Pallax - Force Sensitive, Illusionist Noble on the Run https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SfmyTRqDwjLfsWf9ZV2dLy1oC42U12sgGTsKZPURQgs/edit Jakira - Zeltron Medic (can be made FS or Not) Non combatant https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OS7Pm9d5utEbkLs0-G3bKTG57ruyU7w0Qsk1IgTsD-w/edit Combatant https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v4GIMNeF-c23sTKzclKba72kehar9V6mrJHaSp8n3-8/edit Shi'tal Bralor - Mandalorian (affectionately call the build a CT buster) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-2P2abhdrChpO5iWrf37RP7DUcSFxDjgYvLp4wN6ffQ/edit
Great application! :D You can take talents and feats from any of the source books so don't worry about that. Like you said, we can modify their details to fit the one shot.

Question though. You said there's going to be two one shots before we get into the campaign. Are we going to be using different characters for all of it or are we going to be able to use the same? I have a habit of getting attached to the characters I make (shown by how I reuse them) and really one session isn't long enough to really enjoy a single one in my opinion.
Both of the one shots are going to use a new group of characters with a focused goal for each group. The campaign will be a continued story with the same group. The purpose of the one shots is to get a stable and reliable group together and give people a chance to see if they like playing with us.
wow im totally in. ive been trying to get in a game for this for weeks now. I dont have a character already made up but i can in the next hour or so. hoping to roll a scoundrel by the way
Great! As soon as you submit the character sheet make sure to apply to the game. It's listed in LFG games page.
Hey, I would be very interested in joining. My character sheet should be attached. If you have any issues with it, let me know, I would be fine making changes. It is a Mon Calamari Jedi character.
Only suggestion I have is to take a prestige class level. Typically better than 8th level jedi. 7 Jedi / 1 Prestige Class Level. Other than that you're good. Make sure to apply to the game. It's listed in the LFG games section.

I think I'll be using Jakira for our first run and save either Adalyn or Shi'tal for the campaign. It would be nice to hear more about to campaign so I can make a decision. I'll finish up stats for her on Tues at the latest. Since I have Tuesday off I will definitely have the time.
The group works for the Rebellion on Hoth. The first one shot will be you completing objectives during the battle and then trying to escape the planet before it falls to the Empire.
aary I sooo wish you were running an Old Republic game, I love your dm'ing but well i get bored of the movie era star wars
I updated my character as per your suggestion to take a prestige class (Jedi Knight). Changes include defense bonuses from the prestige class and being forced to remove one feat and add one talent.
I'd like to join. My character is a Bothan noble (full char sheet attached). If there are any specific problems with it, let me know and I can change them. The general spirit of the character should be clear. Here's to a good game!

Don't have Jakira completely done yet but looking at a mix of Noble and Scoundrel levels with 1 level in Medic (need to double check pre-reqs but don't have them on hand ATM). She'll likely be Force Sensitive with very few abilities.
Oh, Alicia. For the one shots we're just going basic classes with 1 level of prestige. Benji has Noble and Danbsmitbo has Jedi. Scoundrel, Scout, and Soldier are open.
I'd love to give the Saga system a shot. It looks like a nice interpretation of d20 modern. I've also been itching for some science fiction even if it is just the "not-science-fiction-at-all" of the Star Wars universe. :) I can present a scout. I notice that role is still open. I kind of wanted him to own a starship, but felt like it's such a big piece of gear that I'd likely have to wait for GM adjudication. I tried to write his history without explicitly depending on a specific vehicle. This look ok to you?

Guess I'll build her Soldier since Scoundrel doesn't have Treat Injury. And what do you mean by "standard creation rules"?
For money. Max value at level 1 and standard at each level up.
Room for a scoundrel? Haven't played Saga in a long time, but experienced with D20.
After a look through the Core Rulebook and a quick Google search, I still can't find the standard for how many credits an 8th level character will have. How can I determine how much I start play with? 3d4*100 seems too low for a level 8 character.
When I get back from work tonight I'll have it posted.
Oooh Oooh Oooh. I was looking through the Rebel sourcebook and found a prestige class I like a lot better (Pathfinder). I only took Ace Pilot because nothing else looked close in the base book, but I was really trying to be more of a survivalist than a smuggler. Any objections to me doing the switcheroo?
No. Do your thing.
After a look through the Core Rulebook and a quick Google search, I still can't find the standard for how many credits an 8th level character will have. How can I determine how much I start play with? 3d4*100 seems too low for a level 8 character. It's a brute force calculation that isn't spelled out explicitly in the core rulebook. Short answer: 280K credits + max starting credits per class + (some) talents. Long answer: Page 37 lists how much experience it takes to level. The Forumla for experience required to reach a new level is (currentlevel*1000). EG, leveling from 1 to 2 is 1000 exp. Leveling from 2 to 3 is 2000 exp (-sum of previous exp). From 3 to 4 is 3000 xp (-sum of previous exp). Etc. Page 248 gives an explanation of experience gained per fight and the amount of credits each fight should award. Assuming you always have fights of challenging difficulty, it takes 5 fights to gain enough experience to reach the next level. Page 248 also advises credits to be rewarded per fight on a formula of : average level * 2000 credits. WIth some shortcuts, the formula for starting credits is = 5 * previouslevel * 2000 + sum of all previous levels. Or 70,000 + 60,000 + 50,000 + 40,000 + 30,000 + 20,000 + 10,000 + max starting credits based on class. Or 280K + max starting credits.
The "unofficial" formula on the WotC boards is: (level x [level -1]) x 2000 credits But I think that's too low given credits don't really do much until you get into the millions.

Are we using point buy (how many points) or rolls to determine abilities?

Basic level breakdown is done. Still waiting to hear about attributes/abilities and then the rest will fall into place. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1N6WmmilQVYBWoeiyAF22PD6cQeSmFqzaWMyNlvAcWNU/edit
I prefer 25 point buy, but for the one shot either method works.
Alrighty here's the revision. He's a bit more of a ranged combatant now. I expanded his criminal background a bit and spent a bunch of cash on custom weaponry and electronics.
Here he is all leveled-up. I just took another level in pathfinder and my new feat is Skill Focus: Survival. Have a great week. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ac-e8wa7-Pg9tpoztdfz-BUXKSdZEnahUi6y3Bfq-oU/edit#
