Attempted Creation of Danganronpa RPG.

Hey all, I am currently in the process of designing a Danganronpa tabletop game, and am wondering if there is anyone interesting in the idea? For anyone who doesn't know, Danganronpa is a who done it mystery game where anyone can be the victim and the killer,if you wish. I'd like to get between seven and fifteen people get a full class, I know this would be hard to manage so we may also do fewer people either running npc's or multiple characters per player. The game is still in the planning stages, and I am open to suggestions for the skill system. I am open to any suggestions of both creating the game, or if you have an interest in joining. As for the canon, the game will take place in a setting similar to DR1, but will not be including any pre-established characters, with the exception of Monokuma. If interested, pm me with a possible name and ultimate skill. I will be updating this post as new information becomes available. If you have any questions, first look at the posts to see if they give you the answers you need, if not, feel free to pm me. I'll be sending a pm to anyone who is interested. Ultimate Skill List: this is a list of the ultimate skills already taken, as you can't have two people with the same skill. It's first come first serve, so get them into me ASAP. Ultimate Video game designer, Ultimate Tactician, Ultimate Scientist, Ultimate Masseuse, Ultimate poet, Ultimate cowboy, Ultimate comedy actress. Thank you!
This sounds like an awesome idea! I wouldn't mind being a player for this kind of tabletop game when it set up, though I would like to ask about the time and day when this takes place though, school reasons for myself.
Sounds like a great idea, I've only played through the second game but I loved it. Will you be making the cases?

Hey, glad to see a bit of interest. To answer these questions. 1 the time is up for interpretation but will likely occur once or twice a week, in the evening. 2 the idea I was hoping for was I provide motives and people inform me secretly if they wish to commit a murder. They will then set up their own murder, person place weapon etc, and I will create the murder scene, including all evidence. I am unsure if i want to include npc's to allow for killing or if people will run two characters so they aren't out because they died.  3 any questions or suggests are appreciated! 4 one last thing, I am still testing various ideas to ensure no one is too op or up,  and no mechanics are set in stone. I may even end up using a dice scheme similar to shadowrun, don't worry, it's not too hard to learn. That being said, I will likely be giving everyone various abilities and/or skill boost based on their ultimate level skill, but will also allow suggestions as long as they aren't op.
Sounds like a fun unique idea

So a quick mechanics update, I'm working with the idea of using a variation of the shadowrun system involving rolling multiple dice depeding on your skill, and needed successes based on the difficulty of the challenge. You will have 4 attributes body, intelligence, will, and charisma. These will need to be increased to raise your skill in its linked skill ex. Your intellect is four and your reasoning skill is four, you must raise intellect before you can raise reasoning. I'm currently designing the skills available and balancing them, and am open to suggestions if anyone has any. Also Luke, if your still interested, please let me know.

(i'm a huge fan of danganronpa).  Also... just letting you know there is a tubler user who wrote a DR Table top game. However, Your's sounds way better , (I Love the shadow run system) but If you are interested in seeing what they did I could send you a link. :)

Ah Danganronpa. An excellent idea. I just played through both games and am going through the not as similar Despair Girls one. I would be very interested in joining with a mild character with the skill Ultimate Masseuse. Depending on skill points available, the highest would be his charisma stat followed closely by intelligence. His average stat would be will with strength being a dump skill. Though with the right knowledge, strength don't matter much. The name of this person shall be Hashima "Magic Fingers" Edo, a 5' 5" tall pale individual with short copper hair and blue eyes. He is rather shy about interacting with people, but is usually willing to help when it comes to physical therapy.

Interesting. Could see myself playing this, assuming it's not in the dead of night (UTC+1 time). Though it brings into question how the 'class trial' will occur and due to the nature of the game (NPCs vs a group of PCs who 'trust' each other? PCs vs PCs only?), as well as how to handle if a PC is killed (the DG games didn't have people 'replaced' for a very good reason). The mysteries would certainly have to be extremely-well thought out. Otherwise one flaw from the DM/culprit can bring a game to an instant end with everyone dying (e.g. a DM's mistake leads to the wrong conclusion and kills everyone. Or an unexpected observation instantly reveals the culprit). The stats and luck-based mechanics would certainly be important as well - failing an important evidence-based roll or a person-to-person interaction could make a trial impossible.
A suggestion that might work: - Both DM and PCs design the 'protagonists' but don't make it clear who made who. - The DM then assigns 2 'protagonists' to each player, one of whom is presumably the one that player made, the other of DM make. Only the players know which one is which. - The DM may optionally take control of the other NPCs (or even some extra player-made NPCs). The result is that every player has better/'safer' options to play as a culprit, accomplice, or as an innocent, in any combination. A guarantee of losing your PC OR causing everyone else to die is probably going to be a detriment to play, and this can make the PVP atmosphere work a bit better, so long as other controlled characters don't abuse meta-knowledge of the culprit's crimes. If the culprit gets away, that 'protagonist' wins, along with the player controlling him. If the culprit is exposed, the player's other controlled character 'wins' by surviving. And if there are extra NPCs, the player who lost a character can take control of that one.
I agree with the Idea of giving each player an NPC or offering them an NPC if they die (that is what I do with my rp group). Another option is to create a roll for the players after their character has died. (Usually i would give them a creature or monster to control. Or have them design aspects of the game such as new locations, motives, etc. also Sometimes If I was feeling generous I would let them guess who the culprit was and if they were correct I would let them dictate the next section of the game (with me in control of roll play though)) (I run a lot of suspense/mystery games). :)

You might want to modify Breakfast Cult, a game about supernatural boarding schools housing unthinkable evil.
I'm not sure breakfast cult will help with the class trials much, but I'll see if I can't take a look regardless. As for the game, I've decided I'll have each player running two characters, their main and either one I make or they can feel free to make another. If you really don't want to, I can run them and you take over if your main dies. I'll decide what a player can do if both die if and when that happens. With this decision, I will be running this game with seven players, and myself so each person gets two characters if they want. So if you wish to play, get me your ultimates in soon, as that will be your placeholder for the game. As soon as I have the rules established, I'll inform u all in this thread or in pm.
That sounds AWESOME! if we want to create our second character should we PM you the Ultimate skill we want for them as well?

If you want to make both characters, feel free to, just pm me. I may as well say this too, with the amount of response i've gotten on this threat, I am without a doubt going through with this, so once i get some of the rules established, i will link them here or pm you. The first section will likely only contain attributes and skills, but may also have a few other basics. It will take me some time to get everything set up, including the maps and character sheets, but i will have it done. Optimistically i may be ready to go in a few weeks, but it may take a month or so. Until then, thank you so much for showing me there are people interested in this, i will do everything i can to make sure everyone has a great time in the dark depressing world of Danganronpa!

So I've been working non-stop today, and i am almost finished with a first draft of the full rulebook! All mechanics, skills, talents, and character creation methods are open to improvement, so i'd love some feed back if anyone has it. If i do not have it posted tonight, i will definitely do so at some time tomorrow, so look forward to it! Also the list below includes the people who have sent me their request for what type of Ultimate they want to run. If your name is not on this list, please send me your Ultimate as soon as possible, as i only have two spots left for this game. Stoyla, Golden B., Kradosis, blabtonic, and Nadia.
OK! I have put up the first iteration of the rulebook on the game now, along with character sheets. I will be sending a game invite to everyone who has sent me information on their ultimate, and will unlock your character sheets whenever you want. Just PM me so i can do it. This will likely be my last post on here, all new information will be on the game's official page. Big thanks to Stoyla for her help with setting all of this up! Depending on when everyone gets in here and everyone's schedules, we may be set to start the game within the next few weeks, so look forward to it, I know i am!
