Game title: Vengeance and sacrifice The group has made their use of there time in Lerton well and they share a few bonding moments on the Gleaming Endeavor. The gnome wizard Fizzlebang gifts several mechanical toys, one to each of his friends, Friends? yes these are his friends every one of them flaws and all. Malaya takes several jabs from her brother Andor as he blames her for everything and now the young man has found comfort in a bottle. Fizzle and Elly play a little on the deck of the ship with Fizzle casting fly on Elly and she gets to enjoy the freedom of movement that feels almost natural. Malar lands the ship, with its new ability provided by Mimzy, on land in Sutton. The hometown of Trelic seems slightly off as the group enters the local tavern for some food before heading to Ravenna a short 5 miles away. Several patrons attack with makeshift weapons and do little else but doom themselves to death. The party tried to keep them alive but they found little slug like creatures at the base of their skulls seemed to be controlling them. With a monumental level of effort hey are able to save one of the bar patrons and middle aged man named Mason. The professor absorbs all of the slugs at one time, this greatly concerns the professor as again in reaction his power grows. The group learns that these slugs may very well be wide spread and that they seem to all be out to stop them. Trelic recalls a hidden passageway that would take the party all the way to the inner gate, allowing them to pass a majority or the city and giving them a pass through the newly violent and innocent civilians. Elly power of disguise allows the group the pass even more into the heart of the city. While heading towards the castle the group estimates 15-20% of the populace has been turned into slaves of the Viceroy with the slugs. They come across 3 of the council impaled along the streets one still clinging to life. Sending him a quick message he tells them the Viceroy has gone mad and must be stopped before expiring. The main entry to the castle grounds has been decorated for the team's arrival as the entire span from the main gate to the front door has had a canopy of entrails made from the insides of the remaining council members. The front door swings open and the Viceroy welcomes them in. The battle begins with Talia seeing Eldrin up with the Viceroy's men (how could he after everything she has done?). Elly steps in front of the group and lets a green mist roll from her mouth, her Mother's gift, her Mother's Kiss. The toll of the power weakens Elly greatly but it also serves to help level the field. The rest of the party wastes no time into the fray, Malaya sees the focus of her rage across the room. The Professor weaves the powers that he has drawn from the demons, Trelic bravely wades into combat, Talia's bow rings out shot after shot, Fizzle's spells strike home one after another. Eldrin betrays the Viceroy at the start of the fight and injures several of his men before Eldrin dies, but he catches one last look from his daughter and knows in his final moments that she understands now and forgives. The Viceroy teleports to Malaya and engages directly both of them landing strikes. The tide is turning and Talia's new friend, the assassin sent to kill her not too long ago has also joined the fray helping the party by engaging two of the guardsmen. The Viceroy ports away feeling retreat at this time is his best option. Malakn's voice takes Trelic by surprise as his god, the god he thought he upset with his impure thoughts gives him the power to transport Malaya to her foe. Trelic takes this as a sign that this justice was approved by the gods themselves and for a moment Malaya and Trelic are on the same page again. Trelic heals Malaya and he wishes her good luck. Malaya shocked the Viceroy by her sudden appearance and her strikes send him to his knee. She glares at the man that took so much from him, he took her family and what family she has left is broken, twisted and foreign to her now. If she could only take more from him, but his life would have to do, The blade that bares her family's name tastes vengeance as the Viceroy's head flops to the side. The group gathers in the aftermath and Malaya looks at Trelic and says 'It did not help I don't feel any better'. Finding the mirror shattered in the next room the party tries to put it back together as the place the pieces of the mirror back into place each one locks in, leaving them with a cracked and incomplete mirror. Elly hears a voice, one she has never heard before, and it tells her what needs to happen next, the group at the same time figures out Elly's riddle and that her life must be given to repair the mirror. The group screams out to her not to do this, but it is too late as a globe of energy surrounds Elly and the mirror and she plunges the dagger into her chest. Her life's blood sprays from her mouth and the mirror begins to reform as Elly slides to the ground. The magic of the protective shield fading with her life, Trelic is besides himself. As the barrier fades so to do the last flutters of Elly's life force. Trelic screams his prayer, which the group does not know echos through the city of Ravenna. His prayer has a passion to it a true sorrow held within it, a sorrow put there by an experience Trelic who up to this moment saw as his greatest weakness turns into his greatest strength. Above the outside of the castle of Ravenna, a glowing image of a long missing god appears standing over 200 feet tall and glowing with the glory of the sun the figure, Malakn strikes down on the castle. The party saw only that a bolt of lightning hit the ancient weapon of Trelic's family and surged through Elly's body as breath returned. But the people in and around Ravenna witnessed something different. They saw the return of a god, the saw the return of goodness and glory and above all the saw hope once more. The party next time will begin their journey to rescue the Prince and I hope they all had as much fun as I in Chapter 1. Heading in our heroes will be 2,000 XP into their next level so grats all on level 6.
