Hey there. I tend to be a bit dismissive of LFG posts, as I feel that they seldom amount to much of anything. In my experience, good GMs tend to come up with a concept and a campaign either on their own or together with a pre-selected group, and thus a single player being like "Hey I wanna join a game, where's a game?" tends to not result in much getting done. That said, desperate times call for desperate measures, so here I am. First and foremost, introductions. As you can see, my name is Melanie. I am twenty-one years old at current time, currently located in Denmark (moving to the UK in about a month or so) and have been playing roleplaying games since I was about thirteen. In case it's relevant, I have (varying degrees of) experience with the following systems: AFMBE, Ars Magica, A Song of Ice and Fire (Green Ronin edition), Call of Cthulhu (6e I believe), Dark Heresy (1e and 2e), D&D (3.5), Eclipse Phase, FATE, Fate of the Norns, GURPS (4e), Mystic Empyrean, Nobilis, Paranoia, Pathfinder, Pendragon, Shadowrun (4e and 5e, mostly the former), WFRP (2e), WH40k RPGs (Various of FFG's), WoD (various, both nWoD and oWoD) Of these, I would prefer to play Ars Magica, Eclipse Phase, GURPS (4e), Pathfinder or Shadowrun (5e). I am also looking to try out a range of other systems, including but not limited to In Nomine and Unknown Armies. I tend to prefer games that are any combination of simulationist, down-to-earth, small-scale, "gritty" (in the sense of keeping track of fine detail, not in the sense of Let's Include More Violence), "realistic" and character-focused. I don't do well with rules light or too-meta games. I am perfectly happy to adjust my characters and my gameplay based on the needs of the group (e.g. "don't play a loner; it's a team game"), but I strongly dislike being limited for narrative or convenience-based reasons (e.g. "even though your character would fit perfectly fine, you can't be CN because some people have used that to be disruptive" or "you can't turn down this quest even though nobody in the group has any reason to want to do it"). Oh, and I can't play text-based games. Nothing wrong with those, I'm just rubbish at them. Thematically, I'm pretty open to most things. I don't like "let's go kill things and take their stuff", I don't like "let's be evil for the sake of Teh Evulz", and I don't like "let's make this really dark and dystopian but fail completely because we're only going for cheap melodrama and completely ignoring relevant things like the day-to-day lives of normal people in the setting." Aside from that, I'm willing to give it a shot, almost regardless of what it is. I've had good experiences with a wide variety of campaigns in the past, and I'm very much looking forward to continuing to do that. TL;DR: I am looking for a game, preferably of either Ars Magic, Eclipse Phase, GURPS 4e, Pathfinder or Shadowrun 5e. That said, feel free to suggest others; note that I am not good at rules-light systems, and would prefer not to play these. I am looking for a game with a strong focus on roleplaying. I want to explore my character, and explore the world from their point of view. This is crucial to the experience, in my opinion. I am available between 10 AM and 6 AM UTC, on days not including Wednesday and Friday. I would prefer weekends and times between 1 PM and 9 PM UTC. I do not play text-based games. I am just no good at them. Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you, - Melanie K. L. (AKA ExasperatedCultist)
