Compendium to Journal sheet linking?

5e Related, using the 5e roll20 sheet+compendium. There has to be an easier way to use the compendium to pre-make a sheet? I mean the drag and drop onto one is nice but having to set hp/move/ac bars on every single one every single time?  Surely there is a tutorial for this somewhere? I mean it's gotta be something a DM would want to know how to do other than me. Searching has found diddly.

To clarify—are you referring to the act of linking the Attributes of a Character to the Bars of a Token (which Represents that Character )? I believe that's what I mean, yes. A friend of my said there is a way to be able to do this but he couldn't explain how to do it. I'd like to setup a "generic sheet" that I simply throw out and then drag/drop the creature specs from the compendium onto... Or setup sheets that I've dragged specs from compendium onto that I save to a specific sheet that saves bars settings?

To do this, first fully set up a new Character with a Default Token . This will be your "generic" Character. When you'd like to create a new creature, Duplicate your "generic" Character, and then drag-and-drop from the Compendium onto the duplicate.

Just as a note, I don't think that this will actually work since duplicating the character duplicates it's token in all aspects (including it being linked to the original character) so while the token it uses will have linked HP, AC, etc., they will be linked to the generic character rather than the new character. At least this is how it has works for me. If this is a 5e specific feature from having the drag-and-drop compendium available, then just ignore my ramblings.

Thanks, that's got me something I can start to experiment with. I'll keep poking it.

Ah, you're absolutely right. Apologies, Celestian! In my opinion, the fastest/easiest way to link Attributes to Token Bars is to navigate the Edit Token window and toggle features using purely the keyboard. e.g. Immediately after opening the Edit Token window, pressing the Tab key on your keyboard twice will focus the "Represents Character" dropdown, which can be toggled using the arrow keys on your keyboard. From there, pressing Tab another 5 times will focus bar1's Attribute dropdown, etc. It's also worth mentioning that there exist some great API Scripts to expedite the process of setting up Tokens and Characters. (Access to the API is available in games in which the Creator has an active Pro subscription.) One such script is TokenMod .

Yeah, it's something that really annoys me. I would call the fact that the token doesn't switch its links to the new copy a bug, because otherwise what's the point of copying a character?
