The World On Earth, thousands of years ago in a reality we may have known, man discovered portals to other worlds. On these worlds, they found strange and fascinating beings of all kinds. To man, these new people were deemed savages, unworthy of freedom. From Earth, man lead crusades to conquer these worlds and enslave their people. For 300 years the Human Concordat brought suffering and woe to the multiverse, destroying worlds, enslaving entire populations, and waging war with every sentient being they encountered. This is known as "The Fall" to these unfortunate people. Then man disappeared. Over a hundred year span, entire human populations ceased to exist. Not all at once and with no pattern, but in time, all of mankind was inexplicable erased from the multiverse. The Human Concordat went to great lengths to save themselves, creating abominations that might survive the invisible purge. Only these suffering souls survive from among the ranks of man. With their masters' unexplained disappearance, rebellions rose, cities burned, factions developed, and the savages became the majority. Some of these former slaves found their way to Earth, a paradise built from their blood and suffering, and claimed it for their own. Others were brought to Earth to serve man, while more still were conscripted to fight man's wars and now return, free from their master's whip. You are one of those slaves, and you must either redeem or find revenge on a Savage Earth. The Basics The setting takes place on an ancient Earth empty of man, with many of the familiar fantasy races (with a twist) trying to build a civilization, on top and amid the ruins of the human world, after over 300 years of slavery. The themes are exploration, community, personal development, and moral choices. The players take on the role of whoever they want. The party is a disparate group of refugees trying to find their way through a strange world. Your group could decide to start a town, explore the world for wealth and glory, take up a noble or selfish cause, or simply try to find a way home. Having fun is the point of this Setting. The focus is you and your character, and how your party's actions shape the future of these crushed races. Rule Mechanics The Rule system uses elements from FATE, Dungeon World, and Dragon Age. It is a very free-form system, however well structured from the GM's point of view. Make a character that you've always wanted to play, and the system (and GM) will give you a world to put them to the test. Setting Themes, The Story, and Characters This is dark fantasy and is run for adults. There will be adult themes in the game. Take that into consideration before applying. While combat is not the focus of the game, it will happen. Combat encounters are one method of moving a story forward and in a world on the verge of destruction, violence and brutality is everywhere. Stories in Savage Earth do not take place in dungeons. You will not find a room full of orcs who's sole purpose is to be slaughtered by a group of adventurers. Exploration is a key theme, and that means that a story may lead you into a forgotten ruin or abandoned facility from time to time. The story will be dark and gritty. You will encounter unethical, monstrous individuals who will lie and cheat you. Will you join the monsters and give in to the savagery, or will you rise above? That is what Savage Earth aims to find out. Characters in Savage Earth are bound to the fate of the world. They are Legends; their words and deeds shape the course of events and history. However, your character should be flawed with a personality that is believable and a concept that adds to the flavor of the setting and purpose of the game. Your character should be based off of the setting, with their history tied to the events in the story and their future hinging on what comes next. -------------- Looking for 1-2 players for a Wednesday night 5:30pm PST game. The game is played each week for about 3-4 hours. Feel free to contact me if you're interested. If you're on the fence, I'll invite you to the campaign where you can find a great deal of info on the rules and setting. I'm looking for players who are experienced with RP, but not necessarily roll20. The current campaign has a "world building" feel at the moment, as players take on the role of a Legend who is vital to the developing cultures and civilizations of the region. Adventure and exploration in a post-apoc world are also common themes.
