Click here for a quick overview of the backstory to the campaign. The date is variable and I can work with your schedule to accommodate you if need be, also, the game will only be closed IF I MAKE A POST IN THIS TOPIC SAYING SO. Hello, my name is jack. I've been DM-ing Dungeons and Dragons games for over 5 years now, and I'm looking to start a new 5th edition game. I've only briefly run 5E but I have a lot of experience with 3rd, 3.5, and 4th edition, which makes the transition much more light. I am open to teaching new players if they are open to learning, and especially don't mind explaining my process if anyone is interested. This, like all my campaigns, will be story focused rather than combat focused. I may dole out EXP for non-combat encounters and we may go more than one session in a row without a fight. I take the stories in my games seriously; this is not a comedy campaign. While I don't mind jokes, or even spending 10 minutes doing something completely unrelated (we're trying to have fun, after all.) I do not want a player putting silly humor over being sensible. IE: don't be "that guy." If you would like, go ahead and send me the basic concept of your character and I can assist you in fleshing them out. Finally, don't be afraid to ask me anything; I will be happy to help in any way I can. If you're still interested, you have one final hurdle to jump through. I want you to impress me with your character. I want you to send me a message or leave a reply to this topic, telling me about who your character is. Don't just tell me about their stats, tell me WHAT they desire most, tell me WHO they will become in order to achieve that goal, and most importantly, tell me WHY they are the way they are. If you would like, PM me and I will give you an example to follow; a half-orc fighter I wrote named Krash. Born a slave, escaped without his mother in a dragon attack, raised a street urchin, and ultimately trained and loved by a magical professor named Becker, Krash is an example of the kind of multi-faceted character I want to see if I'm going to let you in. Below you'll find a jumping point that explains the very beginning of your journey. “Sieghardt’s Pride.” The dull silver letters of the ship’s name glinted invitingly in the sunlight when you boarded the mighty vessel; a dull ruse for the cargo below. Everyone boarding knew that contraband was carried belowdecks, even if no-one knew what it was. Some insisted it was slaves, to be carted off to some ignoble prince or baroness, while others insisted it was the nigh-unseen substance residuum. Whatever it is, it didn’t stop them from boarding, nor did it stop you. Perhaps, it is even the reason they chose this vessel. The ship was bound for Fort Last Light, a relatively safe settlement on the fringe of the jagged smile; a mountain range stretching across the land. Hopping across several exotic locales, it’s no telling where any of the passengers got on at, or if any stowaway’s made their way aboard. However, of the hundred-some passengers that were aboard just a few days prior, you are among the last surviving members of the ship. A great beast, its teeth the size of a man’s arm and eyes like gaping maws of black, lunged from below, wrapping its tentacles around the Pride. Beams snap and tore, and the crew was butchered in their vain attempts to drive back the beast. You, grasping the reality of the situation at hand, knew what to do. You grabbed the nearest piece of debris that looked like it would float and abandoned ship. You were lucky, very lucky. Not only did you escape with your life, but your luggage as well. You’ve spent an entire day dragging yourself ashore, in gods-know-where, and have finally arrived, pushed ashore like the rest of the flotsam. The other survivors peer cautiously at their surroundings or else lie curled on the ground in exhaustion. One thing is for sure, with the sun going down and the beasts of night coming to tear into your juicy flesh, you had best get busy surviving. - APPLICATIONS CLOSED -

Jack G., Only Plus and Pro subscribers can make their games visible to the public ; by default a link such as https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/1234567/s ... is only visible to players already in the game. The best way to handle this situation is to create a Looking for Group listing ; even if you do not enable it for viewing in the LFG Directory you can share the link with others and have a separate Listing Discussion forum just for those potentially interested in your game. As a bonus, anyone who posts to your game's Listing Discussion forum will have a big blue button by their username and all a GM has to is click 'Invite to Game' and an invitation will be sent their way. I hope this helps, happy gaming! :)
I am very much interested, since I’ve been looking for a game similar to one you described. As it’s late, and I am dead tired, I can’t post too much beyond a couple of concept characters that I wish to play out in some form or another. But, as Genkitty said, I can't see the background story to get a grasp on the character I may be interested in playing. I am very character centered and can give a novella of information on a character. Though, again, I need a bit of background. I can tell you now that I have interest in either playing a druid, cleric, paladin, ranger or even a sorcerer. Leaning more toward druid, cleric, or paladin (and a little toward ranger). Though, to make a more concrete decision I need to know more information about the story. I do have a four paragraph (so far) first draft background ready for a human ranger that I wanted to go beast master that I could toss at you if you'd wish! Just to see how much depth I normally put into my creations..
Just putting down my interest, got a few characters in mind. Willing to play pretty much any class, preferred sorcerer/wizard though.

I'm interested. I'm keen to play a Wizard or Warlock, if possible. Edit: I should actually also mention that I've got pretty solid concepts for both, but in each case I'd want to talk about the setting a bit with you so I can more properly anchor them in the setting. Doubly for a Warlock, since the Patron feature is so juicy for roleplaying hooks.
